Singing “Bonjour, mes amis” and miming words like “soleil,” “arbre,” and “oiseau,” our PYP students participate in a three-minute “French Wake-Up Ritual”—a micro inquiry lesson designed by our PYP team.


Why sing in French at dawn? The IB PYP emphasizes transdisciplinarity and authentic contexts. French is woven into the unit “How We Express Ourselves”:
-Music and rhythm activate both brain hemispheres and boost phonetic memory.
-Total Physical Response turns abstract vocabulary into body movements.
-Group singing lowers morning anxiety and builds a sense of belonging.
