On 9 March UISG Secondary rock bands participated in the ISMAG Rock Music Festival 2024 at GOAT in Panyu. Hosted by Clifford International School and featuring student rock bands from Clifford, the Canadian International School Guangzhou (CISGZ) and UISG, the eight bands ensured a capacity crowd were entertained on a rainy Saturday afternoon.
A dedicated group of UISG staff ventured to Panyu to support the three Year 11 bands representing UISG, who are coordinated by Mr Mawhinney and Mr Natal. The wolf pack were heard and their students did not disappoint.
ECLIPSE started the UISG set with a strong message through ‘There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back’ by Shawn Mendes.
INDECISION followed with two songs: ‘Blank Space’ by Taylor Swift, which got all the Swifties in the audience jumping, and 凄美地 Qīměi dì by 郭顶 Guō ding, with its soaring vocals.
THE HEYDAYS finished the UISG set with the ever-popular Coldplay hit ‘Viva La Vida’. As the last band in the line up, they brought the ISMAG Rock Music Festival 2024 to an emphatic close.
The International Schools Music Association Guangzhou (ISMAG) is a group of international schools who collaborate to create inter-school music activities and events. Along with the Rock Music Festival, events include the ISMAG Piano Competition, Primary SingUp! Choir Festival and the Primary Crash Bang Wallop Instrument Festival.
