I also want to thank all our UISZ families who met with our UISG/UISZ Admissions team to share how we can support you for the the big move of our programs to the UISG campus in August. Your thoughtful questions and engagement mean the world to us. Significant planning is underway, and everyone is very excited to welcome our UISZ students to the new location in Baiyun next year.

Looking ahead, next week is another busy and focused week. We are proud to host our annual Book Festival, designed specifically to reinforce English literacy across all grade levels. Through guest readers, classroom activities, and vocabulary-building games, the festival will help every student grow in confidence and skill.

Alongside the Book Festival, we have sports, service learning, and ongoing assessments. It’s a full schedule—and that’s exactly how the final stretch of the school year should feel: purposeful and energetic.

What an inspiring week it has been in the Primary Years Programme! This Friday, our learning community came together to celebrate two significant milestones: our Student-Led Conferences (SLCs) and the launch of our annual Book Festival.

Student-Led Conferences: Voices of Learners
For those new to our PYP framework, Student-Led Conferences are a powerful shift from traditional parent-teacher meetings. Instead of teachers leading the discussion, our students take center stage. They curate their own portfolios, select key pieces of work that demonstrate their growth, and lead their parents through their learning journey.

对于刚接触PYP课程体系的家庭而言，学生主导会议是对传统家长会的一次深刻革新。在这个会议上，不再由老师主导对话，而是我们的学生成为真正的主角——他们精心整理自己的学习档案，挑选最能体现成长足迹的关键作品，并引导家长走进自己的学习旅程。
How did they prepare? In the weeks leading up to Friday, our learners engaged in deep reflection. They asked themselves:
- What am I proud of?
- What was challenging for me?
- How have I grown as a learner?
他们是如何准备的？ 在会议举行前的几周里，学生们进行了深度的自我反思。他们向自己提出这样的问题：
- 我为自己取得的哪些成果感到自豪？

Students practiced articulating their thoughts, selecting evidence of their understanding, and setting goals for the next term. On Friday, the hallways were buzzing with pride as students confidently guided their families through their classrooms, sharing stories of inquiry, collaboration, and perseverance. It was beautiful to see the trust and partnership between home and school in action.
学生们反复练习如何清晰表达自己的想法，如何挑选能够证明自己理解的学习证据，以及如何为下一单元学习设定目标。上周五，走廊里洋溢着自豪的气氛——学生们自信地带领家人走进教室，分享一个个关于探究、协作与坚持的学习故事。看到家校之间的信任与伙伴关系如此生动地付诸实践，真是令人动容。
Book Festival:
Alongside our conferences, we hosted our vibrant Book Festival, turning our school into a haven for book lovers.
The Book Fair was a huge success, with an incredible variety of titles available for students to browse and purchase. We saw everything from graphic novels and science encyclopedias to heartfelt picture books and adventurous chapter series. It was wonderful to watch students carefully choosing books that matched their interests and reading levels, fostering a lifelong love for literature.
Thank you to all the parents who joined us for the conferences and supported the Book Festival. Your engagement reinforces the message that learning is a shared journey.
Here’s to continuing this momentum of curiosity and connection!

“I could chat with people, and I saw a lot of beautiful things. Also, first we need to go up the mountain, zipline to a place, and then climb down a place.”

“It’s very good except for the insects and Mr. Frog.”

“A week away from our usual routines created a valuable opportunity to experience a different environment and perspective.”

“We had opportunities to make new friends with students from other campuses, and we experienced many activities that we had never tried before, including sailing, gorge hiking, and kayaking.”

Carson Tam:
“Our group went gorge hiking. We walked along narrow passages in the mountains and climbed gigantic rocks. Luckily the weather was perfect for outdoor activities and mostly peaceful.”

Book Festival

We are in the midst of our UISZ Book Festival which will run until April the 24th. This is an opportunity to highlight the fun, enjoyment, and importance of reading for pleasure. On Monday, a group of students from Year 6 and Year 7 will head to UISG to meet author Matt Beighton. Wednesday the 22nd will be a character costume day, so please feel free to come to school in a book-themed outfit.
