PYP
As our Year 5 students prepare to move from Primary to Secondary school, they step into an exciting new phase of learning. Transitioning from the Primary Years Programme (PYP) to the Middle Years Programme (MYP) means exploring a wider range of subjects with deeper inquiry and taking on even more responsibility for managing their time and tasks with greater independence.
To help them feel confident and ready, Year 5 students recently toured the secondary learning spaces, guided by three friendly Year 6 student volunteers who shared their experiences and answered questions. This visit gave them a chance to become familiar with their future environment and feel connected to the school community.
Our students also took time to reflect on their journey together, sharing appreciation for each other and ending their year on a positive and supportive note. The Moving-On Ceremony celebrated their accomplishments and marked this important milestone.
To ease the transition further, students joined an information session with Mr. Scott Gibson, the MYP Coordinator, where they learned about what to expect next year. They also participated in a trial lesson with the current Year 6 class, giving them a firsthand experience.
All of these experiences tie into their current unit of inquiry, “Life is Change,” where they explore how and why people grow and adapt throughout their lives. This understanding helps them embrace change with an open mind and a balanced approach. We are excited to see them continue to grow, ready to start their learning journey in the Middle Years Programme.
MYP
Chinese A (Language and Literature)
This week in Y8, we focus on text analysis and cultural exploration:
1. Core content:
In-depth reading of Bing Xin’s “Watching Dances” and analysis of the sensory language (visual/auditory metaphors) used in dance descriptions, such as “like the petals of a lotus flower trembling”. Explore the theme of artistic appeal: how dance conveys cultural spirit and emotional resonance.
2. Skill practice:
Students watch dance clips and write short poems or essays to express their feelings, using at least two rhetorical devices.
Chinese B (Language Acquisition)
This week’s theme for Y7: Interest expression + basic argumentative writing
Sentence pattern application:
Imitate the “because…so…” structure in “I like to learn Chinese” to describe personal hobbies.
Design an “interest questionnaire” and practice interview sentences (“Why do you like…?”).
Writing enlightenment:
Complete argumentative writing, following the corresponding format and requirements.
Y6 theme this week: Community place description
Language practice:
Learn the directional words (opposite, next to, near) in “There is a shopping mall near my home”.
Draw a community map and mark the places (supermarket, park, school) in Chinese.

Vocabulary and expression: Master the Chinese usage of various means of transportation

We hope this message finds you well and enjoying the spring season. As we approach the end of the academic year, we want to take a moment to express our gratitude for your continued support and partnership. Your involvement makes a significant difference in our school community.
We are thrilled to share that the Theory of Knowledge Exhibition was held with great success on May 23rd. This exhibition is the first part of two externally graded assessments in the TOK course, where students chose three objects and one of the thiry-five internal assessment prompts to write a commentary on how TOK concepts manifest in the real world. Students showcased their critical thinking, presentation, and research skills. Many students from various grade levels attended and interacted with the presenters. For many of our upper MYP students, the exhibition offers a preview of what will come in the IBDP. This event not only highlighted our students’ hard work but also fostered a spirit of collaboration and learning within our school.
Our students are currently finishing their final exams. We appreciate your encouragement during this important time. This is an important time for our Year 11 students. As they near the halfway point of their IB Diploma Programme journey, we are excited for them to become next year’s seniors! Students are diligently preparing for International Day on June 13th. We invite you to join in the festivities and celebrate the diverse cultures within our community. Teachers are in the process of finalizing end-of-year reports. Please look out for these important documents in the coming weeks.
HKDSE
HKDSE Y11 Chemistry students focused their attention on the contents of rate of reaction by doing a series of activities. They learnt how to interpret a graph showing the progress of a reaction and determine instantaneous rate and average rate from a suitable graph (e.g. concentration-time graph). They also learnt how to select and explain the appropriateness of using different techniques to follow the progress of chemical reactions. In addition, students have concentrated on developing practical skills.

国际文凭小学课程
随着五年级学生准备从小学升入中学，他们进入了一个令人兴奋的新学习阶段。从小学课程（PYP）过渡到中学课程（MYP）意味着要探索更广泛的学科，进行更深入的探究，并承担更多的责任，更加独立地管理自己的时间和任务。
为了帮助他们树立信心，做好准备，五年级学生最近在三位友好的六年级学生志愿者的带领下，参观了中学的学习空间，六年级的学生分享了他们的经验，并为五年级的学生解疑答问。这次参观让他们有机会熟悉未来的学习环境，并感受到自己与学校社区的关联。
我们的学生还花时间回顾了他们一起走过的历程，分享了对彼此的感激之情，并在积极和相互支持的氛围中结束了他们的学年。升学典礼庆祝了他们的学习成就，并标志着这一重要的里程碑。
为了进一步缓解过渡时期的压力，五年级学生们参加了由 MYP 协调员 Scott Gibson 先生主持的信息交流会，了解了下一学年的情况。他们还参加了六年级现任班级的试听课，获得了亲身体验。

香港中学文凭课程
香港中学文凭十一年级化学课的同学们通过一系列的活动来学习反应速率的内容。他们学习了如何诠释显示反应进度的坐标图以及利用合适的坐标图（如浓度对时间的坐标图）来测定瞬间速率和平均速率。他们也学习了选取相关的方法来监测化学反应的进度以及解释所选取的方法是否合适的内容。与此同时同学们还掌握了各项实验技能。

초등교육과정

香港中学文凭课程
