As we step into the final full week of June, I want to acknowledge just how much has been packed into these final couple weeks of the school year. It is a busy, celebratory, and meaningful time—and I could not be prouder of our students, teachers, and families.

Grade 10 Transition Days at UISG– Our Grade 10 students will begin preparing for the Diploma Programme (DP) with the teachers and grade 10 students at UISG, a crucial transition as they look ahead to the next stage of their learning journey.

What an incredibly exciting week it has been! The energy on campus is palpable as our students put the finishing touches on their learning journeys. As you may remember, we are gearing up for a monumental day next Friday, June 12th, which will feature our K3–G5 Moving-Up Ceremony, the PYP Exhibition (PYPx), and our Celebration of Learning. We can’t wait to share these milestones with you!

Before we talk about academics, we want to reflect on the joy from our recent Children’s Day Field Trip! It was a day filled with laughter, exploration, and bonding. You might have wondered why we celebrated on Friday instead of the actual Monday date. This decision was made intentionally to ensure that the special celebration did not disrupt the core learning flow of the week. By moving the festivities to Friday, we allowed students to remain focused on their inquiries during the critical early part of the week, while still giving them a well-deserved, fun-filled break to end the week on a high note. It was the perfect balance between rigorous learning and joyful celebration!

Here is a glimpse into the amazing work happening in our classrooms this week:
Engineers in Action (K3 – G3): Our young learners have been hard at work completing their wonderful Adobe Houses. It has been fascinating to watch them apply their understanding of materials, structure, and design to create these unique models. Their creativity and attention to detail have been outstanding!

Entrepreneurship in Full Swing (G2 – G3): The highly anticipated Drink Sale has officially launched! Our G2 and G3 students have taken charge of planning, marketing, and serving. I personally took the time to taste-test every single option, and I’m happy to report that they were all absolutely delicious!
小小企业家全面出击（二至三年级）： 备受期待的“饮品义卖”已正式开张！我们二、三年级的学生已全权负责起策划、宣传与销售工作。我个人还特地花时间亲自品尝了每一款饮品——很高兴地向大家报告：所有饮品都美味极了！
Mr. AA shared some wonderful insights about this project, highlighting how it connects real-world skills with classroom learning. He shared:
“ This week the G2 and G3 class opened a drinks stand, serving a different drink every day. Each day was an opportunity for learning and collaboration. From chocolate milk to fruit smoothies, lemonade and bubble tea, students learnt valuable lessons. Moreover, staff and other students got to take part in this activity by obtaining drinks coupons and collecting their delicious drinks. It was an unforgettable experience that showed us that anything is possible if we all work together.”

Taking Action & Making Conscious Choices: Our Grade 5 students are in the final stretch of their PYP journey, busy completing their Action Projects. This week’s highlights included:
A thrilling Dodgeball Tournament that fostered teamwork and sportsmanship.

Meaningful classroom visits where G5 students shared their projects with primary students, helping to raise awareness and “make conscious” choices about important global issues.

Mr. Millar shared about the power of action projects, he said:
“In the IB Primary Years Programme Exhibition, the “action” component is where students move from understanding issues to responding to them in meaningful ways. After researching their chosen global issue, students design their own action plans to make a positive difference, based on what they have learned and what they feel is realistic and impactful. These actions can range from raising awareness and educating others to organizing events, creating campaigns, or changing personal habits. The process is student-led, encouraging them to reflect on their responsibility as learners and global citizens while taking ownership of how they choose to contribute to change.”
On Thursday, our Grade 5 students spent a busy day completing WIDA assessment. This information is essential when transitioning to the MYP.
All these activities are deeply rooted in the IB framework. From the Adobe houses to the Drink Sale and PYPx projects, our students are demonstrating what it means to be inquirers, thinkers, communicators, principled & caring learners.
We are so proud of the effort, passion, and growth we see every day. Get ready for a spectacular celebration next Friday!

This week, we held a special awards presentation for our D11 students, honoring those who have demonstrated outstanding learning routines during the months of April and May, as well as those who performed exceptionally well in the recent Inter-Class Spelling Bee Competition.
The awards for learning routine excellence recognized students who consistently showed diligence, punctuality, active participation, and strong organizational habits—the foundational qualities that lead to long-term academic success. Meanwhile, our Spelling Bee awardees were celebrated for their impressive vocabulary, spelling accuracy, and composure under pressure.
Congratulations to all award recipients! Your hard work and positive attitude inspire the entire community. We also extend our gratitude to the teachers who nominated and supported these students throughout the semester.

D10 Birthday Celebration D10生日会
This week, our D10 students took time to celebrate a joyful and heartwarming occasion: the D10 Birthday Celebration. Organized with care and creativity, the event brought classmates together to recognize and honor the birthdays of Coey. There were shared treats, laughter, and plenty of warm wishes. Beyond the cake and candles, this celebration served as a beautiful reminder of the importance of community, belonging, and taking moments to appreciate one another—especially as the academic year enters its final weeks. Happy belated birthday to all our D10 birthday celebrants!

Next week, students across multiple grade levels will sit for the 2025-2026 End-of-Year Comprehensive Assessments. These assessments are designed to evaluate the knowledge and skills students have acquired throughout the academic year, providing valuable feedback for both students and teachers as we prepare for the coming school year.
For D11 students, these assessments are particularly significant as you prepare to officially enter your D12 year. Treat these exams as an opportunity to identify strengths and areas for improvement before the final DSE sprint begins.

Last Friday, the DP1 students exhibited their TOK learning. Staff and students were treated to lovely demonstrations of the knowledge these students have acquired through their personal TOK investigations. There were some fascinating artefacts being explored. Well done to Bosco, Jasmine, Leo Gao, Leo Park, and Mr Daewoo for their hard work.
