WWW – Little Explorers, Big Community

Last week, our youngest learners embarked on a delightful educational journey to the Guangzhou Zoo. While our children were thrilled to encounter pandas, tigers, and giraffes, this adventure was far more than wildlife observation. It was a living classroom—a vibrant extension of our IB PYP Unit of Inquiry.
上周,我们最小的学习者们踏上了一场充满惊喜的教育之旅——走进广州动物园。当孩子们兴奋地见到大熊猫、老虎和长颈鹿时,这场旅程的意义远不止于观赏野生动物。这是一间活的课堂,是我们IB PYP探究单元的生动延伸。

In our current inquiry, young minds are exploring the significance of structure, systems, and responsibilities within a community. We want our students to understand communities function smoothly because every person takes on specific roles and duties.
在当前的探究单元中,孩子们正在探索社区中结构、系统与责任的重要性。我们希望孩子们理解:社区之所以能够顺畅运转,是因为每个人都在承担特定的角色与职责。
Guangzhou Zoo: A Perfect Community in Miniature

The Guangzhou Zoo serves as an ideal example of a complex community. During our visit, children didn’t merely observe animals—they became young investigators, discovering the community helpers who make the zoo possible:
广州动物园正是一个复杂社区的绝佳范例。参观过程中,孩子们不只是看动物,更化身小小调查员,探究让动物园运转起来的社区帮手们:
- Zookeepers 动物饲养员: Children learned about the daily responsibilities of feeding and caring for animals 孩子们了解了喂食、清洁等日常照料的责任
- Veterinarians 兽医:We explored the vital role of keeping animals healthy and thriving我们一起讨论了守护动物健康的专业角色
- Security & Guides 安保与讲解员:We observed how they ensure visitor safety and share knowledge观察他们如何保障游客安全、传递知识


The Magic of Transdisciplinary Learning
跨学科学习的魅力
In the Primary Years Programme, we believe deeply in transdisciplinary learning. We don’t simply gather facts; we weave them into real-world understanding. Our young learners reflected on human responsibility toward all living creatures. They also asked thoughtful questions: How is the zoo organized to keep both animals and humans safe? They began to grasp that every role—from sweeping paths to treating injuries—is essential for a community to flourish.
在PYP幼小项目中,我们坚信跨学科学习的价值。我们不只学习零散的知识,更将其与真实世界紧密联结。孩子们反思了人类关爱生命的责任,也提出了许多问题:动物园如何组织管理,才能同时保障动物与游客的安全?他们逐渐理解——从清扫小径到治疗伤病,每一个角色对社区的繁荣都至关重要。
