As we close the final chapter of IB and DSE at UISZ for 2025-2026, I want to take a moment to wish every one of you a successful finish and, looking ahead, a restful and well-deserved summer break.

As we say goodbye to some departing community members, we do so with gratitude and best wishes for their journeys ahead. At the same time, we are excited to welcome our largest intake of new students next year at UISG, many of whom are coming directly from UISZ. Our entire UISG Community is eager to welcome you, and we see this as a wonderful opportunity for new connections and growth for everyone.

Head of Primary, Mr. Benjamin Hacking, joins us from VIS in Vienna, where he has spent the past 17 years contributing to a vibrant international school community representing over 120 nationalities. His roles included G5 PYP Class Teacher, K-12 Digital Learning Leader, and Primary Deputy Principal.

Head of Secondary, Mr. Matt Groves, brings over 16 years of experience and is passionate about MYP and DP continuity. He is eager to strengthen and enrich our programmes and shares our deep commitment to language learning within an inclusive IB continuum school.

We are adding whole-school middle leadership roles in both Math and Science to align curricula from PYP through DP, ensuring smooth transitions and successful progress for students moving between IB programmes.

We are also introducing two new whole-school roles in our Student Support Team:

This year has been filled with moments of discovery, growth, and celebration. Our young learners have demonstrated remarkable curiosity as they explored their units of inquiry, asked thoughtful questions, and made meaningful connections between their learning and the world around them.

I am continually amazed by the IB Learner Profile attributes our students embody daily. They have shown themselves to be inquirers who seek knowledge, thinkers who solve problems creatively, communicators who share their ideas confidently, and caring individuals who support one another with kindness and empathy. These qualities don’t just serve them well in school, they prepare them to be compassionate, capable citizens of our community.

Grade 10 Moving Up Ceremony

On Monday, we celebrated a special milestone with our Grade 10 students as they completed the Middle Years Programme at UISZ. It was a nice opportunity to highlight these students and wish them well as they enter the Diploma Programme.

International Day

On Tuesday, we hosted an event for our whole community. This year’s International Day had the theme of ‘One World, Many Stories’. Students and staff came together to celebrate our diverse and wonderful community and engage in performances and booths showcasing different countries of the world. Proceeds from the sales made at the booths will be donated to Reserva: The Youth Land Trust – a charity who aims to create a world in which young people inherit and help to maintain a biodiverse planet. Thank you to everyone who contributed to aid our donation.

Secondary Day Out

On Wednesday, due to the rainy weather we did what we do best as IB Secondary – we adapted. Thanks to Ms Scarlett’s support, we were able to shift our plans and go to Dongguan’s Funland. Students and staff greatly enjoyed the various activities.
周三，因天气原因，我们展现了IB中学部最擅长的品质——灵活应变。感谢Scarlett老师的鼎力相助，我们得以调整计划，转赴东莞的汇一城。老师同学们都尽情沉浸于多姿多彩的活动之中，欢声笑语不断。
