UEF Family Day & The Dragon House Grand Opening – This Saturday!
“UEF家庭日 “暨 “龙之屋”宿舍盛大开幕——就在本周六！
I am delighted to invite you all to our annual UEF Family Day, taking place this Saturday, March 21 on the UISG campus, commencing at 10:30 AM. This year, we have a special addition to our celebrations: the Grand Opening of the UISG ‘Dragon House’ Boarding!
怀着喜悦的心情，我诚邀各位参加将于本周六（3月21日）在UISG校园举行的年度 “UEF家庭日”活动，活动将于上午10:30正式开始。今年庆典特别增设了激动人心的环节：UISG全新寄宿设施”龙之屋”的开幕典礼！
The opening ceremony will begin promptly at 10:30 AM and will feature a vibrant performance by Lion Dancers to mark this significant milestone for our boarding community. Following the ceremony, our UISG staff have organized a full schedule of activities for all ages, providing a wonderful opportunity for families to spend quality time together on campus.

The day will conclude with the Second Annual UISG Color Run, which proved immensely popular last year. Participants are encouraged to wear a white shirt and come prepared to enjoy this lively and colorful event.

Today, I would like to take a time sharing with you about the value of outdoor learning and its connection with our IB PYP framework.
今天，我想借此机会与您分享户外学习的价值，以及它与我校IB PYP框架的深层联结。
At UISZ, we believe learning has no walls. While our campus provide a vibrant foundation for inquiry, some of the most transformative moments in the IB PYP happen when learners step into the world around them. From visits to the Guangzhou Zoo to immersive experiences like Week Without Walls, outdoor learning is not an “add-on” – it is essential to how we nurture curious, capable, and caring young learners across our entire Primary program.
在UISZ，我们始终坚信：学习，没有围墙。尽管校园为探究式学习提供了充满活力的基础，但在IB PYP中，一些最具转化力的时刻，恰恰发生在学习者迈步走进周围世界之时。从广州动物园的探访，到“无墙周”这样的沉浸式体验，户外学习绝非“附加项目”——它贯穿于我们整个小学课程，是培养充满好奇心、能力与关爱之心的年轻学习者的核心所在。
The PYP is built on six transdisciplinary themes. These themes come alive when students engage directly with their environment.

At the Guangzhou Zoo, Primary students explore how communities work together to protect our environment—connecting science, ethics, and global citizenship on one visit.
以广州动物园之行为例：小学部的孩子们亲眼见证社区如何携手保护生态环境——一次出行，便将科学认知、伦理思考与全球公民意识紧密相连。
In XiangWo, learners harvest tea, craft traditional sachets, and hike through indigenous forests, experiencing firsthand the relationship between culture, community, and sustainability.
在云浮象窝，孩子们亲手采摘茶叶、制作传统香囊，徒步穿越原生林地，亲身感受着文化、社区与可持续发展之间千丝万缕的联系。
These experiences help students see knowledge not as isolated subjects, but as interconnected ideas that matter in the real world.
这些体验帮助学生们认识到，知识并非孤立的学科，而是与现实世界息息相关的相互联结的理念。
Outdoor settings naturally cultivate the Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills central to the PYP:
户外环境自然而然地培育着PYP核心的“学习方法”（ATL）技能：
- Research Skills: Observing ecosystems, asking questions, and documenting findings in authentic contexts.
- Thinking Skills: Solving problems like setting up camp or navigating a new environment.
- Social & Communication Skills: Collaborating in teams, sharing discoveries, and building empathy across our sister schools.
- Self-Management: Adapting to new situations, managing responsibilities, and building resilience.
- 研究技能：在真实情境中观察生态系统、提出问题、记 录发现。
- 思考技能： 解决实际问题，如搭建营地或在新环境中辨别方向。

These skills aren’t taught in isolation; they are practiced, refined, and owned by students through meaningful experience.

A cornerstone of the PYP is Taking Action. Outdoor experiences often spark genuine motivation to make a difference. After witnessing sustainable practices in XiangWo or learning about conservation at the zoo, students return to campus with more than memories—they carry a deeper sense of responsibility. They begin to see themselves as agents of change, ready to protect and share the planet.
PYP的核心理念之一是“采取行动”。户外体验常常激发学生做出积极改变的内在动力。无论是目睹象窝的可持续实践，还是在动物园学习生态保护，孩子们带回校园的远不止难忘的回忆——更有一份沉甸甸的责任感。他们开始将自己视为“变革的推动者”，愿意为守护和珍爱我们共同的地球贡献力量。
We are proud of our young learners for approaching every outdoor adventure with curiosity, courage, and care. As we continue to grow our PYP practice, we remain committed to keeping the world as our classroom, because when students learn beyond walls, they learn for life.

The DSE English Speaking Examinations entered their second week, with more of our students traveling to Hong Kong to demonstrate their language proficiency and critical thinking skills. We continue to be impressed by their composure, confidence, and professionalism. Each completed exam is not just an assessment but a testament to months of preparation and personal growth. To all students still awaiting their turn: stay focused, trust your training, and know that your teachers and peers are cheering you on every step of the way.

- Student Safety Education Session 学生安全教育会议
On Wednesday, our students participated in a comprehensive safety education session, reinforcing essential knowledge and awareness for everyday life. The session covered key topics including personal safety, campus security protocols, and emergency response procedures. Through engaging presentations and interactive discussions, students gained valuable insights into protecting themselves and others in various situations. At UISZ, we believe that a safe learning environment is the foundation upon which academic success and personal growth are built. We thank our staff for facilitating this important learning experience.

- D11 guidance session 校外唱歌团建活动：用歌声点亮夜晚
On Wednesday evening, our boarding community came together for a special off-campus singing event, thoughtfully organized by D11 student Chloe in collaboration with the boarding house teachers. The evening was filled with laughter, shared melodies, and the joy of simply being together outside the usual campus setting. Students from different grades bonded over their favorite songs, discovered new friendships, and created memories that will last well beyond this school year. This student-led initiative beautifully exemplifies the leadership and community spirit we cherish at UISZ. A heartfelt thank you to Chloe for her vision and initiative, and to our dedicated boarding teachers for making such meaningful experiences possible.

We are delighted to announce that next week will bring one of our most cherished traditions—the March BBQ Community Gathering, coupled with the highly anticipated Community Star Award Ceremony! Dear MYP/DP Students and Parents,
亲爱的MYP/DP学生及家长们：
We have had a very busy week this week and yet, perhaps because of its busy nature, I do not have a lot of photos to show you.
这一周，我们过得格外充实而忙碌——或许正因为节奏飞快，可以展示的照片反而寥寥无几。
On Monday, we belatedly celebrated Pi Day in our Mathematics classes. Students had the option of wearing either Pi, maths, or science themed clothing on Monday to add to the festivities.
我们在数学课堂上迎来了迟到的”π Day”庆祝！这一天，许多孩子穿上印有圆周率符号、数学公式或科学元素的创意服饰。
Throughout the week, MYP students spent their morning Advisory time engaging in activities focused on inclusion. The Y9 Advisory group spent the last few weeks preparing for this. Thank you to them and their advisor, Mz Trudel, for all of their work. The Year 9 students began their week of activities by visiting each advisory class to run role plays to help share their message of inclusion. Tuesday’s game was a reversal of musical chairs where students had to ensure that everyone was included despite the number of chairs steadily increasing. It was fun to hear the advisory classes’ music and laughter making it into the corridors whilst they played these games.
这一周，MYP学子们在晨间班会时段沉浸于”包容”主题活动中。九年班的同学们历时数周精心筹备，在此特别感谢他们与班主任Trudel老师的全情投入！周一，九年级同学走进各班班会，以情景剧演绎包容的真谛；周二的游戏有点像“抢椅子”的反向玩法，尽管椅子的数量在不断增加，同学们得确保所有人被 “容纳”其中。笑声越传越远，走廊里流淌的音乐与欢呼，成了最动人的背景音。
MYP students spent Wednesday morning moving between information sessions for the upcoming Week Without Walls and advisory sessions focussed on Inclusion Week. Week Without Walls trips are swiftly approaching. A parent info session was held on Friday as well.
MYP学子们在”无墙周”说明会与 “包容”主题班会之间穿梭奔走，而”无墙周”的旅程已然临近。周五更特别为家长们举办了专场说明会。
DP students completed the last mock exams on Monday, and they have now returned to their regular classes. This is a period of reflection and goal setting as well as a time to get internal assessments finalised.
周一，DP学子们为最后一科模拟考画下句点，如今已重返常规课堂。这是沉淀反思、锚定目标的时刻，亦是完善内部评估的关键期。
