Sebastien Pelletier
UISZ Head of School & Head of Secondary
Over the past 20 years, Mr Pelletier travelled the world to pursue his passion for travels, cultures, and Education, of course. His interest to see the world as both a unique AND diverse place led him to work in Canada, Egypt, Syria, India, and the USA with various curricula (Canadian, French, British, US, and the IB), through which he can see their subtleties, commonalities, and can act as mirrors of our global society. Sébastien spent the first 13 years of his career as a French as a Second Language teacher at all levels. After a Master in Educational Leadership at Lehigh University, he has been leading school divisions and campuses.
As UISZ’s new Head of School, he is particularly keen to launch different community building projects and is interested in the data-driven decision process. Mr Pelletier and his family, Valentine (also a UISZ teacher), Lila, and Achille, are proud to call UISZ home for the years to come.
Tara O’Brien
Head of Primary and PYP Coordinator
I’m originally from a small town outside of San Francisco and have worked in international education for the past 15 years. I’ve taught and served in administrative positions at international schools in Budapest (Hungary), Doha (Qatar), and Lausanne (Switzerland). My teaching and administrative experience is in Early Childhood and Primary education and I greatly enjoy curriculum development and PD design.
I am passionate about all things education and am constantly on the lookout for programs to expand my knowledge-base. After giving birth to our second child, Amelie, I began my doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction, with a focus on school leadership. I find it rewarding to take intentional steps towards achieving a long-term goal.
My other hobbies include travel, martial arts, basketball, learning about emergent technology, arts and crafts.

Tara O’Brien
Nicholas Heymans
UISZ Head of Boarding
Originally from South Africa, I have spent over ten years working in boarding schools worldwide including South Africa, Russia, and most recently in Berlin. During this time, I have successfully led teams in running boarding programs, headed the ICT and Technology department, and served as a master in charge of Hockey. My experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and cultures has instilled in me a passion for creating positive learning environments. I am thrilled to bring my expertise to UISZ and collaborate with you all to achieve our goals.
In terms of my educational background, I hold a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of South Africa. I am currently studying for my Master of Education in Advanced Teaching (IB). I have taught various subjects, including ICT, English, and History, and have been involved in extracurricular activities such as sports coaching and leading outdoor education programs. Outside of work, I enjoy exploring new cultures, watching and playing sports, and hiking.
I am joining the team alongside my wonderful wife, Lindsey, and we are excited to meet the team and get to know the UISZ community. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
