As we conclude another successful week, let us first wish the very best to our Mathletes representing UISG at the ACAMIS Mathematics Competition in Hong Kong this weekend. We are incredibly proud of their dedication and know they will represent our school well!
Looking ahead, we have an exciting week filled with important events, beginning with ECA sign-ups opening on Monday, allowing students to explore diverse co-curricular opportunities. Throughout the week, our focus will include Arts celebrations and Sports Days, followed by the ECA Fair on Thursday. The Secondary Talent Show, a highlight celebrating our students’ unique talents within our diverse student body: strengthening our community spirit. We also look forward to connecting with parents through various sessions scheduled throughout the week, further strengthening our vital home-school partnership.
Thank you for your continued support in making UISG a vibrant learning environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and personally.

This week’s newsletter gives us a chance to look at ongoing practices and upcoming events that highlight the school’s values of Unique, Inclusive, Successful and Globally-minded.

Next week’s Talent Show (November 20th, 2pm – 3:20pm in the MFH) will see 13 different acts, from across the Secondary school, with an exciting variety of performances. We encourage our students to showcase their unique talents, and this will be a fantastic opportunity to see that.
Keeping with the value of Unique, Grade 10 students have just one month left before their Personal Project exhibition – each of these Projects is unique to the student, which is one of the best aspects of the Personal Project process.

On the recommendation of the Student Council, we will be holding an “Inclusion week / Anti-bullying week” on January 12-16. With activities and workshops through the homeroom, and sessions led by students themselves, we hope to build on the idea that all students are expected to be respectful and inclusive. The challenges and opportunities of attending an International School go hand in hand, and we need to help students navigate both of those, by providing the awareness and skills that help to build a truly inclusive school.

This weekend, a number of MYP students will participate in the first qualifying round of the International Science Bee, which tests students’ knowledge in integrated sciences, including astronomy, biology, chemistry, earth science, and physics. The students take part in the online exam from home and could potentially qualify for the National Round in Shanghai next May. More qualifying rounds will take place in the upcoming months. If students are interested in preparing for these qualifiers, they can join the Science Competition ECA on Thursdays during lunch with Ms. Gonzalez.
In addition to this, we have 11 DP students participating this weekend in the ACAMIS Maths Olympiad in Hong Kong and 18 Secondary students participating in the World Scholars’ Cup on December 6th.
There is the opportunity for students to take part in an ACAMIS chess competition on January 31st. Please encourage your child to sign up for that if they are interested.
Globally-minded
On November 21st – 22nd, we have a dedicated group of students who will be attending ImpactGZ. Powered by a purpose to inspire changemakers and connect communities, ImpactGZ is a two-day international summit redefining how service can transform education and the world around us. Service transforms everyone involved. It challenges communities to listen more deeply, connect more authentically, and build lasting change together. It teaches compassion, inspires learning beyond the classroom, and encourages agency and action. Most importantly, it builds global connections grounded in empathy—a shared journey where every voice is seen, heard, and valued.

包容
根据学生会的建议，我们将于1月12日至16日举办“包容周/反欺凌周”活动。通过各班级开展的活动和工作坊，以及由学生自己主持的会议，我们希望强化这样一个理念，即所有学生都应表现出尊重和包容的态度。国际学校的学习生活既有挑战也有机遇，我们需要帮助学生应对这两方面的情况，通过提供有助于构建一个真正包容的学校的意识和技能来实现这一目标。
成功
本周末，一些 MYP 学生将参加国际科学知识竞赛的首次资格赛。此次竞赛旨在考查学生在综合科学领域的知识，涵盖天文学、生物学、化学、地球科学和物理学等内容。学生们在家通过网络参加考试，并有可能在明年 5 月在上海晋级参加全国赛。接下来几个月里还将有更多资格赛举行。如果学生有兴趣准备这些资格赛，可以在每周四午餐时间与Ms. Gonzalez一起参加科学竞赛课外活动小组。
除此之外，本周末我们有 11 名 DP 学生将前往香港参加 ACAMIS 数学奥林匹克竞赛，还有 18 名中学生将于 12 月 6 日参加世界学者杯比赛。
1月31日将举办一场 ACAMIS 国际象棋比赛，学生们有机会参加。如果您的孩子感兴趣，请鼓励他们报名参加。

11月21日至22日，我们将有一支专门的学生团队参加“影响广州”活动。该活动旨在激励变革推动者并促进社区间的联系，为期两天的“影响广州”国际峰会重新定义了服务如何能够改变教育以及我们周围的世界。服务能改变参与其中的每一个人。它促使社区更深入地倾听、更真诚地建立联系，并共同构建持久的变革。它传授同情心，激发课堂之外的学习，并鼓励自主性和行动。最重要的是，它通过建立基于同理心的全球联系来构建这一旅程，在这个旅程中，每一个声音都能被看见、听见并受到重视。

Dear UNC Parents,
A week has flown by, and a new week is about to begin. Please stay tuned for next week’s UNC classes events:
- On Wednesday morning, November 19, 2025, all teachers and students of the UNC will go on a plant exploration trip to the South China Botanical Garden, where the children will have a picnic.The school canteen will prepare sandwiches for the children in advance; parents do not need to prepare any other food. After the activity, the children will return to school by bus. Please check the parent letter sent home by the teacher, sign it, and return the receipt to the class teacher on Monday.
- Parenting workshops will begin next week. Please scan the QR code on the seminar poster to confirm which session you can attend, or which recorded replay you would like to watch.
- Casa class’s parents who have not yet completed observation registration, please scan the QR code to confirm your available time to attend the class.

- 2025年11月19日（星期三）上午，蒙氏班的所有师生将会去华南植物园进行植物的探寻之旅，孩子们将会在那边野餐。学校餐厅将会提前为孩子们准备三明治，家长不需要做特别的物品准备，外出活动结束后，孩子们会乘大巴车返回校园。请检查老师发回家的家长信，签字确认后于星期一将回执单交回给班级老师。
