그리고 All Star Science Carnival 2026 was a national event held in Shanghai from 1st ~ 4th May, inviting students across China to compete in challenging science competitions and science-based activities. Other than individual exam-like competitions, there were also several team events exploring various scientific areas.

The most important part of The All Star Science Carnival for me was the individual NSL (National Science League) National Round, a U.S.-based science competition attracting over 30 thousand students annually and holding over 40 years of history. It consists of a paper exam composed of multiple-choice questions and short answers testing one’s knowledge on the subject of science as a whole. As I held my composure to complete the 60-minute exam of 50 questions, all the collected hard work in the past seemed to have led to the gold award I have received.

A major team event during the carnival was the ‘All Stars Guts‘, where teams had to cooperate in completing sets of science-related questions. Collaborating with two students from Shanghai and Hong Kong, respectively, I had a glimpse of the bright minds my teammates carried from across the country, not only of their high intelligence and knowledge but also of their ability to discuss and conclude productively under time constraints. Despite having only met the day before, we combined our knowledge flawlessly to achieve a silver award.

I am, of course, delighted with the gold, an amazing achievement after a long path—from a qualifying round during camp, which took away my time in a BBQ session, to entering the exam center and competing against students across China.
Looking back at my experience
of this event,
I realized that the lessons and perspectives I have gained here were far more valuable than the awards I have obtained from my academic success. The stress and anxiety from the start were converted into happiness, relief, and satisfaction. It opened my eyes to observe and understand different intelligent yet unique students across the country, how one thinks in a pressured environment, and how one defines their own success. By collaborating and creating a friendship in the process, my perspective has completely changed in viewing people and their one-of-a-kind potential.
This wouldn’t have been possible without the assistance and support from countless individuals, including Ms. Lazareck and the CNH instructors at camp, who sacrificed their own time and effort to help with setting up my qualifying exam; my family, who encouraged me throughout the experience; my teammates, whom I have met at the events and collaborated with in the activities for a wonderful experience; and last but most importantly, Ms. Gonzalez, who organized the amazing ECA for these science competitions and guided each of us through the online qualifying rounds, diverting hard work into preparing the resources and procedures necessary.
