September is upon us, and I look forward to another action-packed month of learning, parent engagement, and opportunities for our students to thrive! A big THANK YOU to all the parents that have joined our various on-campus sessions so far. This is something we will continue as we look for added ways to build stronger relationships with our families.
Of special note is the UPTA Welcome Picnic this coming Saturday, September 7th from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm. The UPTA, students, and our staff have been busy planning for a fantastic day filled with activities, food, music, art, and community spirit. This event is a wonderful opportunity for families to connect, meet new friends, and enjoy the beautiful outdoors together. I look forward to my first UPTA Welcome Picnic at UISG!
Additionally, I am excited to share that Extra Curricular Activities (ECAs) will start on 월요일, and a Whole School Spirit Week that will run all week long! This is a great chance for our students to show their school pride and participate in fun themed days and activities.
Please join us Wednesday, September 4th, for the grade 11 parent session titled “Understanding the DP”. This is designed to inform and engage your understanding of the values and goals of the IB Diploma Programme, and how it prepares your child for success in the world and higher education.

Leaving this form open for one more week, I’ve only had 16 responses so far, we’d like to see A LOT more parents attending workshops this year…
As stated in our definition of High-Quality Learning and Teaching, here at UISG, we are firm believers in lifelong learning. Therefore, we invite and encourage parents to learn with and form our dedicated team of educators. We are starting to build our Parent Learning Workshop schedule for this coming year but would like more information from YOU so we can best suit your needs.
Please complete this Parent Learning Workshop form by Friday 6th September.
Parent Teacher Conference (PTC) Information
Information to be sent in a separate message. Sign-up for PTCs begins September 2nd.
Please note, we are offering an online option for PTCs but we highly encourage as many parents as possible to attend in person. Face-to-face meetings build deeper connections and are much more personable than online and we are looking to build more connections between home and school.

Next week is School Spirit Week. Student House Captains and the Student Council have been working hard to plan for this event. They are asking for your help in encouraging your children to participate. Here are the themes for the week:
Awards
At the Secondary assembly this week, students received awards and recognition for the Harvard MUN event earlier this month, for last year’s Chinese/French art competition and for the National Science League competition. Most significantly, we recognised the EARCOS Global Citizenship Award. This prestigious award is given to a student who is “open-minded, aware and empathetic, concerned and caring for others, and is strongly committed to engagement and action to make our world a better place”. The award winner is Nayoung Oh. Congratulations.
