The MUN season at UISG began with our first conference of the year: SISMUN, held at Shekou International School (SIS).

During the last week before break, UISG Secondary Division transformed into a vibrant hub of rhythm, rhyme, and raw emotion. Mr. Edward Steele designed the inaugural ACAMIS Poetry Slam, a landmark event that brought together young voices from across the region for a day of linguistic celebration. At the heart of this event was a very special guest: Australian rapper, poet, writer, and educator, Xannon Shirley, known professionally as The Tongue.

UISG recently welcomed literacy and Writer’s Workshop expert Matt Glover for an inspiring and impactful week of professional learning. Matt’s visit built on several online sessions he held with teachers during the last school year. His week with the school this term highlighted the progress already made in teaching writing while also nudging our learning forward through purposeful next steps. His visit brought together teachers, support staff, parents, and students around a shared commitment: helping every learner grow as a confident, capable, and purposeful writer.

A student who has grown up in its classrooms, on its teams, and within its international family. Her siblings share that same UISG story: her brother Rodrigue is a UISG alumnus from the Class of 2025, and her sister Capucine is a current UISG student. Together, they have made the school a home base for a remarkable sporting journey.

UISG is proud to host renowned Montessori expert Dr. Paul Epstein on October 8, 2026, for a full day of transformative professional development. This is a rare opportunity for Montessori and early education teachers to learn directly from a global leader in the field.

We are incredibly proud to announce that four of our students—Evelyn, Avery, Xarina, and Jimin —have been shortlisted for the prestigious John Locke Institute Global Essay Competition.

As autumn breezes turn crisp and the season deepens, the full moon rises once again—Mid-Autumn Festival is here. Rooted in Chinese culture, this traditional festival embodies cherished hopes for reunion and harmony and carries the timeless poetry of the East. To deepen students’ understanding of traditional Chinese culture and help them experience the unique spirit of Chinese festivals firsthand, the Chinese Department at UISG planned a series of Mid-Autumn-themed activities. Through a variety of hands-on experiences, students were invited on a cultural journey filled with autumn light and moonlight.
