Mike Bailey
UISZ Head of School
Mike Bailey comes from a family that has lived and worked for generations in different areas of the United States and the world. Growing up in a family that embraced different cultures and friendships and experiencing life as a third-culture child set the stage for Mike Bailey’s professional life and work supporting students in international schools. With over 20 years of experience dedicated to international education, he brings a wealth of knowledge in IB curriculum and school leadership across diverse global settings.
His educational journey has taken him to 10 International Schools in South Korea, the United States, Qatar, China, India, and the Democratic Republic of Congo and now back to our UISZ community here in China.
Mike Bailey holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the College of New Jersey and a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Northern Iowa. His wife, who teaches in the PYP, and his daughter, who is enrolled in the MYP program, join him in this endeavour. Mike Bailey’s oldest daughter attends University in the United States.
Mike is passionate about cultivating a community where exploration, learning, and growth flourish. Innovation and contextual learning are central to his educational philosophy, ensuring that students not only excel academically but also develop into thoughtful global citizens.
