Jessica graduated from UISZ in 2020 as Valedictorian and is currently pursuing an Engineering degree at Seoul National University in South Korea. She has previously worked as a School Captain at UISZ 2019/20. Jessica has extensive experience in running student societies, having served as Secretary General for two years at UISZ, sat on the Student Council at SNU and was Captain of Girl’s Football Team. Currently, as the Chair, Jessica oversees the preliminary setup of the Utahloy Alumni Association with her team. Her plan and visions for the UAA include expanding the association through online meetings via Zoom, Skype and a newly refurbished alumni contact database.

UNIVERSITY STUDY
大学故事
Currently, she is a junior at Seoul National University (SNU), majoring in Computer Science Engineering (CSE) and Economics. She chose CSE and Economics, as she wants to be an expert in Finance Technology. In addition to that, she will minor in Mathematics, so that she can deeply focus on Financial Risk too.
目前，Jessica是首尔国立大学 (SNU) 的大三学生，主修计算机科学工程 (CSE) 和经济学。她选择CSE 和经济学，是因为她想成为金融技术方面的专家。除此之外，她还将辅修数学，这样她也可以深入研究金融风险。
Her university life is not only about studying. Jessica is involved in numerous clubs. Such as SNU Women’s Football Team and Spring Camp Startup Venture. She has been elected as a 2019-2020 captain of SNU Football team and has experienced many football tournaments.
Jessica的大学生活不仅仅是学习。她还参与了众多俱乐部。比如首尔大学女子足球队和春营创业。
Furthermore, she has an interest in startups, therefore, she has been working on a Blockchain project at Spring Camp. Spring Camp is a venture company that invests in Startups, especially in AI and Finance. She has experience working as a Blockchain engineer and got one step closer to her dream.
此外，Jesscia对初创公司也很感兴趣。因此，她一直在春营创业从事区块链项目。春营创业是一家投资初创公司的风险投资公司，尤其是在人工智能和金融领域。她拥有区块链工程师的工作经验，离梦想又近了一步。
This winter break, she will be working as an intern at the Data Mining Laboratory in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at SNU. Her research interests lie in artificial intelligence (AI), data mining, and machine learning to find models, algorithms, and systems for data analysis. Specifically, focusing on the research topics of how deep learning can interpret the financial market.
今年寒假，她将在首尔大学计算机科学与工程系的数据矿场实验室实习。她的研究兴趣在于人工智能 (AI)、数据挖掘和机器学习，以寻找用于数据分析的模型、算法和系统。具体来说，她重点关注和深度学习如何解读金融市场的研究课题。
As a junior, she is taking advanced courses, and she especially enjoys Computer Architecture. Computer Architecture is a required subject for my major and introduces the main components of a modern computer system including the instruction set, the processor, and the memory hierarchy. Cover techniques such as pipelining, caching, and virtual memory. In addition, gives a historical perspective on the evolution of computer systems and an overview of performance evaluation methodologies.

In Economics, she is currently taking a Stocks, Bonds & Derivatives course. This course is the introductory course in the modern theory of investments. Providing background in the organization of various securities markets, and fundamental knowledge in securities such as stocks, bonds, or options and futures contracts. Emphasis is directed on the valuation of capital assets and risk management and learning about the principles of trades and portfolio construction.
在经济学方面，她目前正在学习股票、债券和衍生品课程。本课程是现代投资理论的入门课程。她正学习各种证券市场的组织背景，以及股票、债券或期权和期货合约等证券的基本知识。其中的重点是学习针对资本资产的估值和风险管理，以及学习交易和投资组合构建的原则。
Next year, she will be taking mostly Applied Mathematics courses, focusing on Finance Mathematics.
明年，她将主要学习应用数学课程，重点是金融数学。
Frankly, applying to universities is not an easy and cherished memory. She has applied to six universities and the most challenging part is waiting for the results. Writing applications is comparatively easy, as in class you have time given to write and teachers will read over your essays, but once you send your applicants then there is not anything that you can do. You just must wait for the result, therefore it is the most challenging part.
坦率地说，申请大学并不是一件轻松而珍贵的记忆。她申请了六所大学，最具挑战性的部分是等待结果的过程。写大学申请书还是比较容易的，课堂上有时间写，老师也会看你的申请论文。但是一旦学生发出了申请，后续只需要等待结果，因此这是大学申请最具挑战性的部分。
She focused her application essay on her diverse clubs and research essays. Doing many clubs and research essays is important, but the most important part is that you need to narrow your experience to your major. For example, if you are interested in Engineering, then you must consider writing topics about Mathematics and Physics. Thus, doing many curriculums are important, but the part that you want to highlight, and show us how your curriculums are appropriate to your major.
她将申请文书的重点放在了她丰富多彩的校园社团活动和研究学术论文上。学生参与丰富的校园社团活动并且编写研究论文是很重要的。但最关键的部分，还是需要学生将自己的校园经历缩小到对应申请的专业。例如，如果学生对工程专业感兴趣，那么他就必须考虑撰写有关数学和物理的主题。因此，完成很多课程很重要，但是学生也需要强调并向大学展示，自己的课程和校园经历是如何适合所申请的专业的。
UTAHLOY HIGHLIGHTS
誉德莱难忘一刻
Looking back, she still remembers U2NESCO. U2NESCO is a Utahloy Model United Nations (MUN). She has been running U2NESCO as a Secretary General for 2 years. To run 2-day conferences, it takes about a year to plan and prepare, therefore, it is a long-term project. Preparing for MUN and academics is not easy, but she believes that MUN helped her in many ways- communication and teamwork skills. She gave her Secretary General position to Helen Wong, who is currently Deputy Chair of UAA.
回想起来，她还记得 U2NESCO。U2NESCO是每年一度由誉德莱学生主导举办的模拟联合国大会活动，她作为秘书长运营 U2NESCO 长达2年之久。为了举办这个为期2天的会议，学生需要大约一年的时间来策划和准备，因此，这是一个长期的项目。为模拟联合国和学术界做准备并不容易，但她相信模拟联合国在很多方面帮助了她 特别是在沟通和团队合作技巧方面。随后她将秘书长的职位交给了现任 UAA 副主席的 Helen Wong。

亲爱的师弟师妹们，
I know that preparing for DP and college is not an easy job, as I have done it before too. To give advice on DP, I think the most important part is that “Hard-working always pay off!” DP is a two-year program, and even though your first-year DP grade is not good, you have a year to overcome. Therefore, never give up. You still have time to work hard. Also, everyone cannot be good at all six subjects, so try to focus on higher-level subjects. As higher level courses are your interests.
我知道为 DP 课程和大学做准备并不是一件容易的事，因为我也是这样走过来的。我想给DP的学生的建议是，我觉得最重要的是“努力总会有回报的！” DP是一个两年制的项目，即使你第一年的DP成绩欠佳，但你还有一年的时间来克服。因此，永远不要放弃。你还有时间努力学习。另外，不可能每个人都擅长所有六门科目，所以尽量专注于更高层次的科目。因为更高级别的课程是您的兴趣所在。
To advise your college applicants, I believe College Essays are the most important. If you have a grade that you can take, then I suggest you work on your essays every day. I spent over 6 months writing SNU application essay. It took a very long time, but after completing one application essay, it was easy to write five application essays, thus focusing on the one college that you really want to go to. Also, remember to check that university website for any updated news too!
我想为大家的大学申请提供的建议是，我认为大学申请文书是最重要的。如果你的成绩已经很好了，那么我建议你每天研究申请文书的写作。我花了6个多月的时间写韩国首尔国立大学的申请文书。我虽然花了很长时间，但是写完一篇申请文书之后，就很容易写出五篇申请文书，从而再把重点放在一个你真正想去的大学。另外，请记得查看该大学网站以获取任何最新消息！
