Art isn’t just a “special” in our UISZ PYP; it’s the thread that connects all learning.
In the PYP, we don’t teach subjects in isolation. Through transdisciplinary Units of Inquiry, art becomes a dynamic language for exploration, expression, and deep understanding. When students investigate big ideas like How the World Works, How We Express Ourselves, or Sharing the Planet, they might:
Exploring the outdoors, plant needs, and ladybugs through nature walks and connect with color, texture, and paint.

This is interdisciplinary learning in action. Art naturally weaves together literacy, numeracy, science, and social studies while strengthening Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills like communication, critical thinking, and self-management.

They are working on their project of preparing different natural drinks for their economic project, at the same time they connect with art through color and shades:

D11 English Listening Intensive Training with Teacher Amber

Taking full advantage of the flexible scheduling within elective classes, our D11 students participated in an intensive English listening training session led by Teacher Amber. Through targeted exercises, authentic past paper listening tasks, and strategic test-taking techniques, students sharpened their ability to comprehend a range of accents, identify key information, and manage their focus under timed conditions. This focused, skills-driven session is part of our ongoing commitment to providing D11 students with the targeted support they need as they enter the final year of DSE preparation. Thank you, Teacher Amber, for your dedication and expertise!

Special Lecture at UISG: “Defining Your Mathematical Journey: Course Selection & Career Prospects” – Hosted by St. John’s College, University of Cambridge

Next Monday, our students will travel to UISG to attend a prestigious and inspiring lecture delivered by representatives from St. John’s College, University of Cambridge. Titled “Defining Your Mathematical Journey: Course Selection & Career Prospects,” this special session will offer students invaluable insights into the study of mathematics at the university level—from choosing the right courses to exploring diverse career pathways in fields such as data science, finance, engineering, and research. This is a rare opportunity for our students to engage directly with one of the world’s most renowned academic institutions. We strongly encourage all students with an interest in mathematics or related disciplines to attend with curiosity and an open mind.

Examinations 考试
We have had another busy examination week this week. The students are showing so many admirable qualities as they persevere with the high workload and fully apply their focus.

Grade 10 students are in the final stretch of their examinations. As I write this, they have one final exam left: the Interdisciplinary Learning examination which is held on Friday afternoon. They have had additional classes to help prepare for this examination. Here is a photo from Thursday’s interdisciplinary class.

“Grade 6 students got hands-on with leftover fabrics, turning scraps into colorful appliqués on their tote bags! With paint, scissors, and sewing machines, they transformed textile remnants into creative designs while exploring how small actions can help reduce textile waste and pollution.” – Ms Maria, Visual Arts teacher

The most important event on the horizon is being held on Friday the 22nd. This is our chance to celebrate the DP2 (and DSE2) students who are graduating from secondary education. I cannot wait to applaud as you each cross the stage.

MYP Invitations MYP 邀请函
There are a lot of invites to share with you for the coming week as Wednesday P1 and 2 will feature many MYP activities.

Grade 10 Personal Projects are being exhibited in the Secondary library. The students will be there during Period 1 and 2 to present and answer your questions about their individual project and about the process and learning they completed to reach their goals.

Grade 9 students are showcasing their Interdisciplinary Learning which combines knowledge from Mathematics and Language and Literature. Students carried out individual research and have created reports to showcase their findings.
