My name is Kiara You, a 2025 graduate of UISZ’s DSE program and a candidate for the 2025 Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) exam.
I transferred from a traditional high school to UISZ to study the DSE program because I’ve always had a clear goal: I want to go to university in Hong Kong, and hopefully live and work there in the future. The DSE is widely recognized in Hong Kong and internationally, and the fact that it allows students to answer in Chinese makes it both a challenging and manageable option for me. Through this curriculum, I’ve built a strong academic foundation and also gained deeper insights into Hong Kong’s culture and society.
When I first started the program, the biggest challenge was getting used to new subjects—like economics, which I had never studied before. It was tough at first, but at UISZ, learning happens in an international environment. I get to study and discuss with classmates from IB Diploma program and with foreign teachers, which not only helps me understand the content better but has also greatly improved my English communication skills.
One thing I really appreciate about UISZ’s DSE program is that it focuses not only on academics but also on personal development. I joined the school band and, within just a month, we prepared and delivered a full performance together. That experience taught me a lot about time management, teamwork, and communication. It also helped me develop leadership and creativity. Our teachers are always supportive—they care about how we’re doing academically and encourage us to grow in all areas.
After graduation, I plan to apply to Hong Kong Baptist University to major in Journalism and Public Relations. I’ve always been interested in media and communications, and I look forward to building a career in a dynamic and diverse city like Hong Kong.

我从原本的普通高中转来UISZ学习DSE课程，是因为我一直有一个很明确的目标——未来想到香港上大学，甚至在那里工作生活。DSE是一个被香港和国际广泛认可的课程，而且能用中文答题，对我来说是个既有挑战又有优势的选择。透过这个课程，我不仅能打好学术基础，也能更深入了解香港的社会和文化。
刚开始接触DSE的时候，最大的挑战来自于一些新的学科，像是经济这门课我以前从没接触过。一开始确实觉得有些吃力，但在UISZ的环境里，我可以跟IB 课程的同学和外教一起上课、讨论问题，这不仅帮助我理解课程内容，也让我的英语表达进步了很多。
我很喜欢UISZ的DSE课程，除了学习方面安排得很系统，学校还特别鼓励我们参与课外活动。我自己参加了学校的乐队，在一个月内和团队一起完成了一次正式的演出。这段经历不但提升了我的时间管理和团队合作能力，也让我对领导力和创造力有了更多体会。老师们也非常支持我们，不只是关心学业，更会鼓励我们多方面发展。
毕业之后，我打算申请香港浸会大学，主修新闻与公关广告。我一直对传播和媒体很有兴趣，也希望未来能在香港这样多元的城市里发展属于自己的事业。
