Cowen’s mother recalls that the reason for choosing UISZ was the school’s non-examination, minimal homework, and inquiry-based learning approach, which deeply attracted her. This educational model aligned well with her understanding of children’s learning and development patterns. Although she didn’t know much about the IB curriculum and international education at the time, she firmly believed this was the most suitable educational environment for Cowen.
Sharing Cowen’s Educational Experience at UISZ
During the PYP phase, Cowen faced challenges with language barriers and adapting to a new environment. However, the extra tutoring and encouragement from his teachers helped him quickly overcome language obstacles, laying a solid foundation for future learning. In the MYP phase, Cowen’s motivation to learn significantly increased, with teachers’ attention and encouragement becoming a crucial driving force in his studies. He actively participated in school activities, such as Model United Nations (MUN), which not only honed his leadership skills but also taught him how to handle complex tasks.
Entering the DP phase, Cowen received help from all his teachers, who also provided substantial psychological and spiritual support. Despite the busy and stressful DP phase, Cowen successfully completed his studies under the patient guidance of his teachers.
Cowen’s mother also mentioned that as a Chinese family, they naturally integrated their national culture into their lives, which balanced well with the school’s international education and multiculturalism. She is full of expectations for the international education at UISZ and has offered valuable suggestions, such as strengthening the science foundation in the MYP phase to better connect with the DP curriculum.
The Best Activities at UISZ
UISZ provides many unique learning opportunities for children, such as organizing the Spring Festival celebration, MUN, International Day, and other activities that have honed the children’s leadership skills and the ability to handle complex tasks. Activities like personal achievement presentations and career fairs have taught children to delve deeply into topics, accept feedback and make improvements, and fully express their views.



Cowen’s story is far from over. He not only achieved an outstanding score of 40 in the IB DP exam but also received admission offers from several top universities worldwide.
