Our beloved Boarding House has once again seen its most popular night of the year last Tuesday as our annual Spooky Trick or Treating evening took place. Many thanks to our extraordinary Boarding team for the organization and to our Year 12 for the coordination of the “Nightmare Hall” and the pinata! Special credit to these DSE and IB students for their joint collaboration!

Parents!! Your input is needed: “Celebrating our Future” – Strategic Planning, November 15
On Wednesday, November 15, we will receive the visit of Mrs Adele Hodgson and Dr Michael Wylie, Education Consultants for the Utahloy Education Foundation. They will meet with various groups of students, parents, employees, and leaders of the school to help determine the strategy of our below institution for the following five years. A group of parents, representing all aspects and backgrounds of our school, will be invited to take part of the discussions. The parents’ consultation meeting will be held at school from 2:45pm to 3:45 pm.
We are actively looking for a group of parents (12 to 16) representing all year levels and cultures of the school. If you are interested to participate, please express your intention by filling the form below (QR code).

11월 15일 수요일에는 유탈로이 교육재단의 교육 컨설턴트인 아델 호지슨 여사와 마이클 와일리 박사가 방문합니다. 이들은 다양한 그룹의 학생, 학부모, 직원 및 학교 지도자들과 만나 향후 5년 동안 학교의 전략을 결정하는 데 도움을 줄 것입니다. 학교의 다양한 계층과 배경을 대표하는 학부모 그룹이 토론에 참여하도록 초대됩니다. 학부모 간담회는 오후 2시 45분부터 오후 3시 45분까지 학교에서 열립니다.
학교의 모든 학년 수준과 문화를 대표하는 학부모 그룹(12~16명)을 적극적으로 찾고 있습니다. 참여를 원하시는 학부모님께서는 아래 양식(QR코드)을 작성하여 의사를 밝혀주시기 바랍니다.
PD Days, November 16 and 17
There will be no class in session on Thursday and Friday, November 16 and 17, as our teachers and staff are becoming students for two days!!! Please note that buses will depart at 3:45 pm on Wednesday afternoon and that ECA will not take place on that day so that our boarders get trip return home without heavy traffic.

To celebrate the International Day of the Child, on Monday, November 20th, we invite all parents to school to see their child in action and to attend various workshops facilitated by our experts in education, your child’s teachers and leaders. If you want to learn more about how we teach reading in primary, how we assess in the MYP, who to get prepared for the DP, or how to deal with your child’s use of technology as a parent, please pay us a visit on November 20!!!

PYP 国际文凭小学课程 초등교육과정
There was Halloween celebrations in primary school this week, and in the last class on Tuesday, Children participated in treasure hunting activities. The treasure hunt activity was divided into two groups based on the age of the child, and the lower grade group used pictures to prompt for treasure hunting. The senior group used riddles to prompt for treasure hunting. After successful treasure hunting, the teacher distributed candy to each child as a reward for treasure hunting.
这个星期在小学举行了万圣节的庆祝活动，在周二最后一节课，孩子们参加了寻宝的活动。寻宝活动根据孩子的年龄分成两个组，低年级组使用图片提示寻宝。高年级组使用谜语提示寻宝。寻宝成功后老师给每个孩子发糖作为寻宝的奖励。
이번 주 초등학교에서는 할로윈 축제가 있었고, 화요일 마지막 수업에서는 아이들이 보물찾기 활동에 참여했습니다. 보물찾기 활동은 아이들의 나이에 따라 두 그룹으로 나뉘어 저학년 그룹은 그림을 사용하여 보물찾기를 했고, 고학년 그룹은 수수께끼를 사용하여 보물 찾기를 진행하였습니다. 보물찾기에 성공한 후 교사는 보물찾기에 대한 보상으로 각 어린이에게 사탕을 나눠주었습니다.
MYP 国际文凭中学课程 중등교육과정
In MYP science class, year 9 students are currently studying DNA. To enhance their knowledge about this fascinating molecule, the students conducted an experiment to extract DNA from strawberries. This experiment is simple and requires only a few materials, making it an enjoyable activity for students to observe the real polymer DNA. DNA is the genetic material that exists in all living organisms.
Meanwhile, year 8 students are learning about healthy nutrition and conducted a series of lab experiments to test different biological molecules found in the foods we eat every day. Students formulated hypotheses before beginning the hands-on activity and analyzed their data afterward. This type of activity not only helps students practice lab skills but also critical thinking skills. It requires students to analyze data, interpret results, and draw reasonable conclusions.

DP 国际文凭大学预科课程 디플로마 과정
In DP Chinese B, Y12s are studying the second last core theme, ‘Social Organization.’ We discussed related topics like family relationships, school life, education systems, career development, and so on. Recently, we have been focused on the generation gap, comparing the difference between Asian education and Western/IB education. In the generation gap topic, students talked a lot about how family communication is going on in their family. They shared their frustration and also gave suggestions to each other. In the education systems topic, students watched the BBC documentary named ‘Chinese School in the UK (Are Our Kids Tough Enough? Chinese School)’. We also talked about ‘Tiger Mom’ and ‘Wolf Dad’ issues. Students are keen to share their insights on the pros and cons of different education systems, followed by a Paper one writing practice about this topic.

HKDSE 香港中学文凭课程 홍콩 중등교육과정 프로그램
In this week, we cover important aspects including college consulting, summative assessment, and preparation for running for school captain.
We encourage students to actively explore various college options and develop plans based on personal interests and goals. Consider career counseling and university admission requirements. The college counsellor and DSE coordinator provided the support for college applications, including preparing application materials, writing personal statements, and preparing for interviews. Students should actively engage with university representatives.
Y12 students have entered a crucial phase of summative assessments, including mock exams and pre-exam revision. Teachers will provide exam techniques and guidance. As exams draw nearer, students may experience stress. We encourage them to adopt effective coping strategies and provide support and resources.
Y11 students will actively engage in preparations for the school captain campaign, including crafting campaign manifestos, planning campaign activities, and interacting with fellow students. They will continue to develop leadership skills, including public speaking, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities to be competent for the role of school captain.
We encourage them to actively participate in college consulting, summative assessment, and school captain preparations to achieve their personal and academic goals.
