Greetings from UISZ,
We are one month away from the Winter holiday and as always, there is still much, much to do!
We want to start by thanking all parents who participated in the first celebration of the International Day of the Child, held last Monday. Parents had the opportunity to see their children in action at school and also took advice from our expert in education: our teachers. We are planning another session on February 29th with diverse topics discussed and exchanged among parents, teachers, and children!
IMPORTANT: Change of dates: to maximize and optimize our class time and most importantly, students’ well-being, we have made the following changes to our semester 1 calendar:
December 7 (instead of 8): Festival of the Arts
December 13-19 (instead of 11-15): Summative Assessment Week for secondary
December 22 (instead of 21): Report cards sent home
Transition days with the Student Council: our new Student Council met for the first time last Wednesday, helped by our former Captains. Last Thursday marked the official transition point, as all School Captains met joined the School Consultative Forum. It was followed by a team building activity at a famous restaurant in Zengcheng. We wish our 2023-2024 “STUCO” to continue to lift the community spirit at school!

겨울방학이 한 달 앞으로 다가왔습니다. 언제나 그렇듯이 여전히 많은 행사와 일정들이 남아 있습니다!
먼저 지난 월요일에 처음으로 열린 국제 아동의 날 기념행사에 참여해주신 모든 학부모님들께 감사의 말씀을 전합니다. 학부모님들은 자녀가 학교에서 활동하는 모습을 볼 수 있는 기회를 가졌고, 교육 전문가인 선생님들로부터 조언도 들을 수 있었습니다. 2월 29일에는 학부모, 교사, 어린이가 함께 다양한 주제에 대해 토론하고 교류하는 세션을 다시 계획하고 있습니다!
중요: 날짜 변경: 수업 시간을 최대한 활용하고 최적화하기 위해, 그리고 가장 중요한 학생들의 웰빙을 위해 1학기 달력을 다음과 같이 변경했습니다:

학생회 인수인계: 새로운 학생회는 지난 수요일에 전임 학생회장의 도움을 받아 첫 모임을 가졌습니다. 지난 목요일은 모든 학생회장단이 학교 협의회 포럼에 참여하면서 공식적인 인수인계를 마쳤습니다. 그 후 정청의 유명 레스토랑에서 친목을 다지는 시간을 가졌습니다. 2023-2024년 “STUCO”가 계속해서 학교의 공동체 정신을 고양시키길 바랍니다!

This week, as part of the International Day of the Child celebration, we invited parents to be part of our class, as well as the Reading and Writing workshop on Monday morning. On Wednesday assembly, we explored the Wants and Needs, what the children right is and what would be important to us.

MYP 国际文凭中学课程 중등교육과정
Next week, Year 11 students begin their introductory journey into writing Math Internal Assessments (IA). This phase is crucial because it introduces students to the process of formulating and presenting mathematical arguments. With AI writing, students will have the opportunity to explore a mathematical topic of their choice, using their knowledge and analytical thinking to solve real-world problems. This first step will lay the foundation for developing critical thinking, data analysis, and effective communication skills in Mathematics.
Year 12 students are currently completing and submitting their Math IAs and receiving valuable feedback from their maths teachers. This is an important step that allows students to refine their mathematical investigations and further deepen their understanding of the topic. Teacher feedback will allow students to identify areas for improvement of their IA before final submission.
Recently, mathematics teachers actively participated in professional development opportunities and are working collaboratively to implement the strategies learned in the IB workshop. This commitment to professional development ensures that teachers are up to date on the latest pedagogical approaches and best practices in mathematics teaching.

DP 国际文凭大学预科课程 디플로마 과정
DP Year 11 students are currently on the second unit: Microeconomics. We have covered interesting topics in Microeconomics such as Demand, supply, Price elasticities of Demand and Supply as well as an in-depth look on the role of government in microeconomics. In Language and Literature, we have completed our first literary text-Persepolis and started on our second text-The Merchant of Venice. We have also studied a variety of non-literary texts such as advertisements, Photographs and speeches. Students have also attempted paper 1 guided textual analysis. DP Year 12s are on the last sections of the Economics course. We are midway in Global Economy and started revision in Macroeconomics with the HL students. In Language and Literature, we have covered all assessment components keenly, with a focus on the upcoming individual Oral, Paper 1 and Paper 2. We have also started revising various text types and embarked on the Literary Text revision to enhance paper 2. The students are enjoying their learning, asking questions and putting in alot of effort towards doing better and I love to see them grow in this journey.

Throughout the week, our students delved into the world of English movies, engaging in comprehensive research to analyze various aspects of selected films. The objective was to develop a deeper understanding of the language, themes, and cultural nuances embedded in these cinematic works.
As part of this project, each student was tasked with creating a captivating movie poster that not only showcased their artistic flair but also reflected their insights into the chosen film. The diversity of movie selections led to a rich variety of posters, highlighting the unique perspectives and preferences of our students.
The climax of the week was the in-class presentations, where students eloquently shared their findings and artistic creations with their peers. The presentations were not only a platform for honing their public speaking skills but also an opportunity to demonstrate their proficiency in the English language.
