- Engage in diverse activities, such as class parties, assemblies, jungle adventure, etc
- For many, attend the Winter Party at Dragon house on Thursday
- Receive their report cards
It will be a week full of activities, hard work and fun… just before taking a two-week break from each other.

Winter Jam Session at the AIO!!
On Wednesday, December 20, the Year 6, 7, and 8 students will travel to the Art Institute of the Orient on Shamian Island to perform the act they perform during the last Festival of the Arts. They will also have the opportunity to visit the Our World art exhibition on the 3rd floor of the AIO. If time permits, a visit of the island is also planned.

Year 6 to 12 trip to Jungle adventure
On Thursday, December 21, students from Year 6 to 12 are cordially invited to travel to the Jungle Adventure Park in Huangpu where they will make their way from trees to trees wearing a harness and a helmet in a perfectly safe environment.

In Kindergarten and Year 1 we learn many songs appropriate in terms of voice ambitus and thematically to each age level which prepare them for future subject concepts. There is a consistent approach from kinesthetic to aural perception followed by visual representation (a precursor form of reading).

Musical instruments are integrated into story telling to enhance the plot, the characters or the atmosphere. We also use musical instruments for movement activities and for building control in the muscles with playing and stopping the sounds.

This term has been a long adventure for our young musicians in Primary. We learned music games, songs from all over the world, we reviewed some prior knowledge and built new knowledge.

Here is a sequence of what learning looks like in Music:

- We start with Music games.
- We decode melodies with untraditional notation which helps us visualize in space the movement of the melodic contour. We also learn the traditional notation as a natural extension, rather than a tedious new language alphabet.
- We create new rhythmic accompaniments. At this point we add solfège names underneath rhythm notation.
- We introduce instruments and learn bits of melody. At this stage we use alphabet letters for coding and decoding notes.

The first season of ECA numbered 8 members who worked the first on Orff instruments. They started with some composition exercises based on the letters of their names, which they transferred to small unpitched percussion.

With the overwhelming success in the outcome of the their performance during the Festival of the Arts, we do hope to gather more students-musicians!

Going back to the class work, the rest of the term was dedicated on working on different arrangements based on songs each class studied.

As we grow as Young Musicians we develop not only subject specific skills, but also, we strengthen our sense of coordination, our critical ear, we develop a natural appreciation for beauty, and we learn means to transmit it to someone else. Studying Music engages both sides of the brain, thus integrating analytical skills very necessary for Mathematics and Languages and creativity into a wholesome human being. In other words, studying Music makes you smarter!

What a fruitful week！At the close of the Unit of “Human Beings and Animals”，the Year 6 students were highly engaged themselves in performance as a director, actors, actress and aside. The students are not only reflect on what they have learned in this unit，but also study essential elements of literature and performance.
Also，as a student- centered class，we strive to inspire students to take initiative in learning. This week Kyson volunteered to serve as a “student teacher” for the very first time. All students were well engaged and motivated by “being a student teacher”. Being a student teacher is a great chance to practice what students have learned about ATL skills. Also it is a showcase for their leadership skills in teaching and learning!

The students of Design Technology DP 1 have completed their first semester, covering topics such as Human Factors + Ergonomics, Classic Design, for Standard Level, and User-Centered Design at a Higher Level. They will soon take their final semester exam to demonstrate their understanding of the content. Let’s encourage them and support them as they approach this important academic milestone.

The students of Design Technology DP 2 are concluding their Diploma Programme with a focus on Waste Management and Commercial Production. They are currently engaged in their extended essays and internal assessments as they approach the conclusion of their academic journey. HKDSE 香港中学文凭课程 홍콩 중등교육과정 프로그램
HKDSE Y1 Chemistry students focused their attention on the contents of acids and bases by doing a series of activities. The general reactions and properties of acids and bases, the pH scale as a measure of the concentration of hydronium ions and the characteristics of strong and weak acids were all explored in detail. In addition, students have concentrated on developing practical skills.
HKDSE Y2 Chemistry students focused on different types of analytical techniques. Colorimetry is used to determine the concentration of a coloured species accurately. Mass spectrometry and Infrared spectroscopy are techniques that can be used to help identify compounds and to determine their structure. Students learnt how to determine the structure of an unknown carbon compound by a combination of analytical methods. In addition, students worked diligently to prepare for their mock examination.

“Last weekend, Jason and Patrick together went shopping in RT-mart. On the way to RT Mart, Jason and Patrick will discuss the ingredients they need in advance and discuss how to do it.
上个周末，宿舍导师和护士与Jason 和Patrick 一起去大润发购物。在路上，Jason 和Patrick 会提前商量好他们需要买的食材以及怎么做。
지난 주말에 제이슨과 패트릭은 함께 RT 마트에 쇼핑하러 갔습니다. 제이슨과 패트릭은 RT 마트로 가는 길에 필요한 식재료에 대해 미리 의논하고 쇼핑 방법을 논의합니다.
After arriving in RT Mart, the two of them walked around and quickly found the ingredients they needed. This fully demonstrates their interest in shopping and preparing food. At about five o’clock in the afternoon, the two of them began to prepare their own cooking. They finished it in about half an hour. They cooperated with each other, one for cooking and another one cleaning, and finally finished a delicious dinner.”
