Our school year has now passed its first “checkpoint” with the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Holiday being now at our doors. While we wish each and every one to have a restful and exciting holiday, we also want to congratulate all stakeholders for this fantastic and promising beginning of the year. From the classroom to the field and gym, and from the theater for assemblies and events to away, providing information sessions and professional development, our students and teachers offered UISZ beautiful moments… to be continued.
Save the date
Monday October 9, Week Without Walls information sessions Years 3 to 11. Mr Milan Durik and the China New horizons team will be providing a series of information sessions upon our return on October 9. Parents will be able to join online and time will be confirmed shortly.

Digital Citizenship and use of screen time.
We are all conscious that monitoring and restricting the use of electronic devices will not be constructive if we do not provide Digital Citizenship sessions to students and parents. Please expect those to take place in the future.
WeChat Groups
As mentioned during the last UPAZ meeting held last Friday, we have created WeChat Class groups for parents only. At the time of writing, Ms Yan Zhou and Ms Scarlett are the group owvers but as soon as a parent becomes the representative of the group chat, our two PA’s will transfer ownership and leave the groups.

지난 금요일에 열린 UPAZ 회의에서 언급했듯이 학부모 전용 위챗 클래스 그룹을 만들었습니다. 이 글을 쓰는 시점에서는 얀 저우 선생님과 스칼렛 선생님이 그룹 대표를 맡고 있지만, 학부모가 그룹 채팅의 대표자가 되는 즉시 두 선생님은 소유권을 이전하고 그룹에서 퇴장할 것입니다.

Mid-Autumn Festival,Zhongqiu Jie(中秋节)in Chinese is around the corner! As Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the most important festivals in China,the whole primary celebrated this ancient festival together on Wednesday!
During the assembly time, our learners introduced the story and legends about the Mid-Autumn Festival, and gave the excellent performance to celebrate it, such as sang the poems Jingyesi（静夜思）, Mingyue jishi you (明月几时有) and other songs. Besides the performance, the whole primary also made the colorful and yummy moon cakes by themselves!
Mid-Autumn Festival is a reunion time for family, we wish you and your families have a wonderful holiday!
国际文凭小学课程
作为中国最重要的节日之一——中秋佳节即将来临！小学部于周三举办了丰富多彩的庆祝活动，让学生们在活动中体验到浓浓的中秋节氛围！
在我们的周三集会中，我们的学生们介绍了中秋节的故事及传说，了解了中秋节的来龙去脉。小学生们也一展歌喉，表演了中秋的古诗词唱诵，如《静夜思》和《明月几时有》，以及其他的歌曲。同时，我们还亲手制作了中秋的冰皮月饼，一个个色彩亮丽、口味丰富的月饼，在我们的小巧手们的揉捏下成型啦！
中秋节是家人团聚的时刻，我们衷心祝愿大家：月圆人团圆，中秋合家欢！
초등교육과정
중국어로 중추절(中秋节)인 추석이 코앞으로 다가왔습니다! 중추절은 중국에서 가장 중요한 축제 중 하나이기 때문에 수요일에 초등학교 전체가 이 전통 축제를 함께 축하했습니다!
조회 시간에 우리 학생들은 중추절에 대한 이야기와 전설을 소개하고 징예시(静夜思), 명월지시유(明月几时有) 및 다른 노래들을 부르는 등 중추절을 축하하는 훌륭한 공연을 선보였습니다. 공연 외에도 전교생이 직접 화려하고 맛있는 월병도 만들었습니다!

On Wednesday, during the monthly assembly, Chinese department and Art department awarded the student winners of The 7th National Youth Exhibition of Calligraphy and Painting. The National Youth Art Exhibition of Painting and Calligraphy is a prestigious and professional event in China. It’s organized by the Chinese International Calligraphy and Painting Art Research Society, recognized by the Ministry of Education of China and supported by World Federation of UNESCO Clubs, Centers and Associations.
国际文凭中学课程
在本周三的月度集会中，中文部和艺术部为第七届全国青少年书画艺术大展的获奖者举行了颁奖仪式。全国青少年书画艺术大展是由中国国际书画艺术研究会主办的一项国家级赛事，以专业性和权威性著称。
大赛得到中国教育部的认可，并得到联合国教科文组织协会世界联合会的支持。
중등교육과정
수요일, 월례 조회 시간 동안 중국어학과와 미술학과는 제7회 전국 청소년 서예 및 회화 전시회 학생 수상자를 시상했습니다. 전국 청소년 회화 및 서예 전시회는 중국의 권위 있고 전문적인 행사입니다. 중국 교육부가 인정하고 세계 유네스코 클럽, 센터 및 협회 연맹이 후원하는 중국 국제 서예 및 회화 예술 연구회가 기획했습니다.
UISZ handed in 42 artworks, and all of them have achieved prizes! There are 18 artworks have been awarded Third Prizes, 14 artworks achieved Second prizes and 9 artworks achieved First Prizes. Cheerfully, Emily Kim’s artwork, Let go, has got the highest prize: the Special Award! There are only 7 candidates who has got the highest prize nationwide, and our school is so proud to have one! Congratulations to those young artists again! We hope that more and more students enjoy the calligraphy and painting, and look forward to seeing more and more young artists appear in UISZ!
UISZ选送了42幅书画作品参赛，全部作品均获奖。获三等奖的书画作品共计18幅，获二等奖的作品共计14幅，获一等奖的作品共计9幅。尤为令人欣喜的是，Emily Kim同学的作品《展翅高飞》获得了特等奖！在全国范围内，仅有7人获此殊荣。
我们学校亦赢得一席之地，何其荣幸！再次祝贺这些年轻的艺术家们！我们希望有越来越多的学生享受书法和绘画。同时，也期待看到越来越多的年轻艺术家在UISZ崭露头角！

DP
Grade 12 students are currently finishing their last two design technology topics while also working on their internal assessments and extended essays. I commend them for their dedication. While they are ready to move on in their academic careers, we encourage them to discuss with our counselor in regard to their university applications.
Grade 11 students who chose design technology as part of their courses are exploring two topics: Topic 6, “Classic Design,” and Topic 1, “Human Factors and Ergonomics,” as their first steps in the design technology program. Classic design is defined as having a timeless quality that remains fashionable and defies obsolescence, while human factors and ergonomics focus on designing products that are the right size for the user and comfortable to use. I am thrilled to welcome them to my class and eager to accompany them on their journey through the diploma programme.
国际文凭大学预科课程
本周，12 年级的同学们目前正在完成最后两个“设计技术“课题，同时还在进行校内评估和撰写扩展论文。他们所表现出的敬业精神让人赞赏。当他们准备好继续自己的学业生涯时，我们鼓励他们与我们的辅导员讨论有关大学申请的事宜。

In today’s fast-paced and technology-driven world, the importance of building a strong community cannot be underestimated. Whether it is in schools, neighborhoods, or workplaces, cultivating a sense of togetherness is essential for the overall growth and well-being of individuals. At our school, we take immense pride in promoting a vibrant and inclusive community. One of the ways we achieve this is through our athletics program.
Our institution is home to a diverse group of students, with a large cohort of Diploma Programme (DP) and Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) students. This diverse student body allows us to offer a wide range of sports and athletic activities, catering to the varied interests and talents of our students.
One of the most fascinating aspects of our athletics program is witnessing the students from DP and DSE intertwining and forging meaningful connections. It is heartwarming to see boundaries being blurred and camaraderie taking center stage. Inspiring Participation and Joy through High School Volleyball Tournaments
Last Saturday, the vibrant atmosphere at BASIS International Park Harbour (BIPH) high school was set ablaze with excitement as the volleyball teams competed in a thrilling tournament. This annual event not only showcased the incredible talent and passion of our students but also fostered a sense of community and camaraderie among the participants. While victory may have eluded some teams, the sheer joy of competing and the invaluable lessons learned were the true winners of the day.
From the early morning hours, the gymnasium was filled with anticipation as players prepared to showcase their skills and determination. The teams had dedicated weeks to rigorous training sessions under the guidance of experienced coaches, perfecting their set plays, spikes, and digs. As the matches commenced, it was evident that the dedication and hard work had paid off, resulting in high levels of sportsmanship and thrilling displays of athleticism.
The energy in the gym was palpable, with enthusiastic cheers and applause echoing through the bleachers. Each match was a testament to the incredible talents of our students, as they showcased their abilities, strategized, and demonstrated exceptional teamwork on the court. The elation and determination etched on the faces of the players served as a reminder of the passion and commitment that permeated the entire tournament.
However, in the world of competitive sports, success is not always measured solely by victories. While some teams came out on top, others faced defeat with grace and humility. It is in these moments that the strength of character and the true spirit of sportsmanship shine through.
