Looking ahead to next week, I am especially excited for our Primary students as they head off to camp. This is a wonderful opportunity for them to connect their learning outside the walls of UISZ, strengthen bonds with their peers, and engage with our extended community in new and meaningful ways.

Although this was a short week for our students, it was incredibly busy and full of meaningful learning. Here is a highlight of what has been happening across the Primary section:

Teacher Professional Development: Deepening Inquiry on Monday and Tuesday, while students were on holiday, our teaching team participated in professional development sessions with the renowned Kath Murdoch who is one of the world’s leading experts in inquiry-based learning and has authored several key texts on the subject. Her work aligns perfectly with our IB PYP framework, helping teachers move from simply “teaching topics” to fostering deep, student-driven investigation. As a result, your children will experience learning that is more engaging and relevant, empowering them to take greater ownership of their educational journey.

本周一、周二学生休假期间，我校教学团队参与了由国际知名探究学习专家 Kath Murdoch 引领的专业发展研修。作为该领域权威学者及多部核心著作作者，Kath Murdoch 女士的学术理念与我校IBPYP框架高度契合，助力教师实现从“教授主题”到“培育学生深度探究”的教学范式转变。

Back in the Classroom: Celebrating the Learner Profile Upon the students’ return, teachers immediately applied insights from the PD sessions. We had a wonderful time reconnecting with the children through teacher-led activities designed to celebrate Inquiry and our Learner Profile. Students reflected on attributes such as being Inquirers, Thinkers, and Communicators, setting a positive tone for the term ahead.
回归课堂：践行学习者培养目标

Grade 5: The PYP Exhibition (PYPx) Our Grade 5 parents had an important meeting with Mr. Millar this week. As you know, Grade 5 students are soon embarking on the PYP Exhibition.
The PYPx is the culminating project of the Primary Years Programme. It is a student-led, collaborative inquiry into a real-world issue of significance. It allows students to synthesize all the skills they have learned in Primary to make a positive impact. Mr. Millar outlined how parents can support their children through this exciting, albeit busy, project phase.
五年级：小学项目成果展（PYPx）
本周，五年级家长与Millar老师召开了重要会议。如您所知，五年级学生即将开启小学项目成果展的探究之旅。

Global Collaboration & Community Connections: Today, we celebrated collaboration on a broader scale. Our students had a wonderful time sharing and working with our UISG sister schools. Through this interaction, students practiced global-mindedness, learning to collaborate across different contexts and appreciating diverse perspectives.
Meanwhile, our youngest learners (K-K2) enjoyed a special outing. They took a short trip to the local Fire Station, where they learned about safety and gained a deeper appreciation for these amazing community heroes.

MAP Assessment Scores: Please note that today, MAP scores were posted on ManageBac. MAP assessments are computer-adaptive tests that adjust to your child’s learning level. Unlike traditional tests, they measure academic growth over time rather than just a snapshot of knowledge. They help teachers identify specific strengths and areas for support, ensuring instruction is tailored to your child’s needs.

- Final Exam Mobilization Assembly D12大考动员大会D12
A dedicated mobilization assembly was held for our D12 students as they embark on the final sprint toward their external examinations. Teachers shared strategic guidance, words of encouragement, and practical tips for effective revision. The atmosphere was one of determination and shared purpose, with D12 students rising to meet the challenges ahead with confidence and resolve.

The Week Ahead
DSE English Speaking Exams Commence DSE英文口语考试将开考
Next week marks a significant milestone for our DSE students as they travel to Hong Kong to sit for their English Speaking Examinations. This is the first of their final external assessments, and we have every confidence in their preparation. Students will have the opportunity to demonstrate their language proficiency in a formal examination setting, engaging in meaningful discussions and individual presentations.

Welcome back from the holidays. We have had a shortened week this week due to the two PD Days that staff had on Monday and Tuesday. Staff spent these days at UISG collaborating with our counterparts to share resources and align our learning plans to aid the transition for the next academic year.

There are a lot of events happening between now and the Spring Break holidays, and I thought it would be helpful to give you an overview of what to expect:

5th-15th March: DP2 Mock exams

Monday 16th March: Pi Day is being celebrated in Mathematics classes. (Due to Pi Day falling on a weekend this year, we have shifted celebrations to the next school day.)

16-20 March: MYP Inclusion Week. Similar to the Bullying Awareness Week we held in Semester One, this will see MYP advisory classes taking part in activities to promote inclusivity. This event is organisedand run by the Y9 students.
