While the weather was on the cold side this week, UISZ students came back to class Monday with a desire to finish the year of the rabbit on a high note. This week, secondary students came back to school after a constructive, instructive and sometimes emotional MUN weekend. At the time of writing these lines, our High School Basketball team is fiercely engaged in the ACAMIS Basketball tournament in Hefei.

尽管迎来的是寒冷的一周，UISZ的同学们仍然按时回到了课堂，要用行动为“兔年“画上圆满的句号。 中学部的同学们在参与了一场富有建设性、启发性，有时甚至是富有”煽动性”的“模拟联合国周末“之后，他们回到了学校，就在此时，高中男子篮球队也正在合肥的 ACAMIS 篮球赛场上挥洒着热血呢。

Council of International School’s (CIS) Annual Survey
To improve its practice in serving its students, the school will once again this year conduct an environmental survey, prepared by CIS. Parents, students, teachers, support staff will receive a distinct link to their respective anonymous survey by email, ManageBac and various WeChat groups.

UISZ will soon implement a POS System in the canteen and Cobra café. The main objective of this system is to improve school canteen management and to reduce students’ use of electronic devices on campus. This system will create a private account for us which is link to our school ID card. It will enable us to create a meal record or buy food from Cobra café by ID card or face recognition.
UISZ即将在餐厅和 “眼镜蛇” 咖啡室启用POS系统。该系统的主要目标是改善学校餐厅管理，减少同学们在校园内使用电子设备的情况。这个系统将为我们创建一个私人账户，该账户将与我们的学校ID卡相关联。它将使我们能够通过ID卡或人脸识别创建用餐记录或从”眼镜蛇” 咖啡室买东西。
UISZ는 곧 식당과 코브라 카페에 POS 시스템을 도입할 예정입니다. 이 시스템의 주요 목적은 학교 매점 관리를 개선하고 학생들의 캠퍼스 내 전자기기 사용을 줄이는 것입니다. 이 시스템은 학교 ID 카드에 연결되는 개인 계정을 생성합니다. 이를 통해 ID 카드 또는 얼굴 인식을 통해 식사 기록을 작성하거나 코브라 카페에서 음식을 구매할 수 있습니다.
While the ID card or face recognition in the canteen is only to create a meal record, you should ensure there is enough money in your ID account before purchasing at Cobra Café. You can top up your ID account in Cobra café by cash or WeChat pay, the account can be cancelled, and the balance is refundable from the Finance department. As it is an account without a password, you should top up less than 100RMB each time and keep your ID card safe.

Before the implementation, the school needs to arrange for staff and students to register and activate their accounts with their school ID card and/or face recognition. All members are recommended to do both ID card and face recognition registration in case they forget to bring ID card. The data is generated and stored in the school. However, please let us know before January 29th if you will be sure to bring your ID card and would like to opt out of facial recognition.
在实行前，学校需要安排教职员工和同学们使用学校ID卡和/或人脸识别注册并激活他们的账户。建议所有成员同时进行ID卡和人脸识别登记以防出现忘带ID卡的情况，生成数据并存储在学校中。但是，如果您确定会带好ID卡同时不进行人脸识别登记，请在1月29日之前告知我们。
학교는 시스템 도입 전에 교직원과 학생이 학교 ID 카드 및/또는 얼굴 인식으로 계정을 등록하고 활성화할 수 있도록 준비해야 합니다. 모든 구성원은 신분증 지참을 잊어버릴 경우를 대비하여 신분증과 얼굴 인식 등록을 모두 하는 것이 좋습니다. 데이터는 학교에서 생성되고 저장됩니다. 단, 신분증을 반드시 지참해야 하며 얼굴 인식을 사용하지 않으려면 1월 29일까지 알려주시기 바랍니다.
The account register and activate procedure should be completed in the canteen at lunchtime in the week of January 29th to February 2nd. The procedure is quite simple and only takes less than one minute for one person. We will have a trial of the system from February 3rd to February 7th and then it will be formally executed when we are back to school after Chinese New Year.
账户注册和激活程序计划在1月29日至2月2日这一周的午餐时间于餐厅完成。这个过程非常简单，一个人只需要不到一分钟的时间。我们将在2月3日至2月7日对该系统进行试用，然后在春节后返校时正式实施。

We anticipate that the implementation of this system will help us a lot in school canteen management and effectively reduce student’s use of electronic devices.

It is a pleasure to be back in the classroom with our Year 4 students after maternity leave. I had the privilege to be invited on my first field trip with the Year 4 and 5 students of UISZ last week. As part of a unit in Chinese class, Year 4 and 5 students have been working on interviewing people about food in Chinese. The first step of the unit was in school, and they were able to move around the school and interview staff members and other students about food. At the end of the unit, students went to RT Mart and interviewed in the mall. They confidently walked up to strangers and asked to interview them in Chinese. At the end of the interviews, students visited a restaurant and ordered different items in Chinese from the menu and shared these dishes with their friends and teachers.
产假结束后，很高兴能和四年级的学生们一起回到课堂上。上周，我有幸受邀与我们的四年级和五年级学生进行我的第一次实地考察旅行。作为中文课单元的一部分，四年级和五年级的学生一直在用中文采访人们关于食物的问题。该单元的第一步是在学校，他们可以在学校里走动，采访工作人员和其他学生关于食物的问题。在本单元结束时，学生们去了大润发商场进行采访。他们自信地走到陌生人面前，要求用中文采访他们。采访结束后，学生们去了一家餐馆，用中文点了菜单上不同的菜，并与他们的朋友和老师分享了这些菜肴。
출산 휴가를 마치고 4학년 학생들을 다시 교실에서 만나게 되어 기쁩니다. 저는 지난 주에 UISZ의 4, 5학년 학생들과 함께 첫 현장 학습에 초대받는 영광을 누렸습니다. Year 4, 5 학생들은 중국어 수업의 한 단원의 일환으로 중국어로 음식에 대해 인터뷰하는 연습을 해왔습니다. 이 단원의 첫 번째 단계는 학교에서 이루어졌으며, 학생들은 학교를 돌아다니며 교직원과 다른 학생들과 음식에 대해 인터뷰할 수 있었습니다. 단원이 끝날 무렵 학생들은 RT 마켓에 가서 인터뷰를 했습니다. 학생들은 자신 있게 낯선 사람에게 다가가 중국어로 인터뷰를 요청했습니다. 인터뷰가 끝난 후 학생들은 식당을 방문하여 메뉴판에서 중국어로 다양한 음식을 주문하고 친구들과 선생님과 함께 음식을 나눠 먹었습니다.
It was a wonderful experience to see our students grow in confidence and use their new language skills in a real-world situation. Thank you to Mrs. Meqing for organizing the trip and our class teacher Ms. Charlie for accompanying us.

MYP 国际文凭中学课程 중등교육과정
In MYP Year 6 science class, students are currently learning about cells – the basic units of life. They began the unit by identifying the necessities for life, continued with the establishment of cell theory, and then delved into the complex world of cells. Cells are truly fascinating as they have many components, each with their own unique functions. Similar to any bustling city, cells are highly organized and highly functional. To better understand the concept of a cell, students are exploring its components through virtual Gizmos simulation labs, as well as using physical models of cells. Students will learn about the different types of cells, the organelles found in cells, and how cells interact with each other. They will also learn the importance of cells in living organisms and the roles they play in health and disease.

DP 国际文凭大学预科课程 디플로마 과정
Congratulations to the MUN DP organizing team. They have done an amazing job working with all stakeholders. It’s an excellent opportunity for the organizing team members to showcase their knowledge and skills and reflect on their weaknesses. As well as the MUN event, Y12s have been busy preparing for the mock exams starting next Monday. The main purpose of the mocks is to prepare students in every way possible for the final exams in May. From the mock exams, students will be able to see their strengths and weaknesses, as well as familiarize themselves with the exam process and reduce anxiety during the final exam.

Last week, our school successfully hosted the Model United Nations (MUN) event. We would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the students who participated.
The event was a resounding success, thanks to the hard work, dedication, and enthusiasm of our students. They demonstrated a deep understanding of international relations and global issues, and their ability to articulate their thoughts clearly, negotiate effectively, and work collaboratively was truly impressive. We are incredibly proud of the professionalism and respect for the principles of the United Nations that our students displayed. Their performance not only made our school proud but also set a high standard for future participants.
In summary, the successful hosting of the Model United Nations at our school last week was a testament to the potential of our students as future leaders. We look forward to seeing what they will accomplish next. Congratulations to all!
