Future Leaders Academy
Week 2 of the Future Leaders Academy has been a week of building, testing, performing, and reflecting as our students explored the theme of innovation and design.
未来领袖学院第二周以”创新与设计”为主题,学员们通过实践学习体验了建造、测试、表演与反思的全过程。
From the youngest Wolf Cubs (ages 3–5) to our Early Innovators (6–8) and Innovators (9–11), all our Future Leaders have been busy experimenting, problem-solving, and expressing their ideas through a wide range of hands-on learning experiences. The week concluded with joyful Learning Celebrations, where families were invited to see first-hand how much learning, growth, and fun their children have experienced so far.
从最小的幼狼班(3-5岁)到初级创新者(6-8岁)和创新者班(9-11岁),所有学员都积极投入实验、问题解决和创意表达。本周以欢乐的”学习成果展示会”收官,家长们亲身体验了孩子们在学业成长与趣味探索中的丰硕收获。
Our Youngest Learners:
The Wolf Cubs (Ages 3–5)
小狼崽班(3-5岁)
In the Wolf Cubs programme, students explored the world of colour and sea life through stories such as A Color of His Own and White Rabbit’s Color Book. These narratives inspired hands-on colour-mixing experiments, sea animal artwork, and group discussions about how to improve ocean habitats. Through these activities, children practiced early science skills and collaborative decision-making in a joyful, imaginative setting.
幼狼班通过《自己的颜色》和《白兔的颜色书》等绘本,开启了对色彩与海洋生物的探索。孩子们参与调色实验、创作海洋生物艺术品,并开展小组讨论思考如何改善海洋栖息地。这些活动在充满童趣的氛围中培养了早期科学技能与协作决策能力。

In music, the Wolf Cubs created their own handbells, learning how sound is produced and how different materials change the tone. They also began rehearsing songs and movement routines, building their confidence and coordination for upcoming performances.
音乐课上,学员们自制手铃,探索声音的产生原理与材质对音色的影响,同时通过歌曲和律动排练提升表现力与协调性。




Meanwhile in art, students crafted nature-inspired sculptures using cardboard and mixed media—activities that nurtured fine motor development and creative expression.
艺术课上,他们用纸板与综合材料制作自然主题雕塑,锻炼精细动作与创意表达。


Their physical education sessions focused on locomotor skills such as hopping, skipping, and balancing. In the pool, the emphasis remained on safety, breath control, and comfort in the water, with every child progressing at their own pace.
体育课程聚焦跳跃、单脚跳、平衡等位移技能,游泳课则延续水中安全、呼吸控制和舒适度训练,确保每位学员按自身节奏进步。
Early Innovators (Ages 6–8)
早期创新者(6-8岁)
The Early Innovators were full of energy and enthusiasm this week as they tackled collaborative projects across the curriculum. In STEM, students became engineers by designing and constructing their own marble runs using limited materials. They tested their models, made improvements, and learned first-hand how persistence and iteration are key parts of the design process.
本周初级创新者们充满活力地开展了跨学科协作项目。STEM课程中,学员们化身工程师,用有限材料设计弹珠轨道,通过测试与改进亲身体验”设计迭代”的重要性。



In English, beginner learners built confidence by reading aloud, writing simple sentences, and sharing ideas on everyday topics like pets and family. Intermediate learners created instructional posters for making paper airplanes—strengthening sequencing, writing, and speaking skills while having fun with hands-on learning.
英语课上,初级学员通过朗读、书写简单句子和讨论宠物、家庭等日常话题建立自信;中级学员则制作纸飞机教程海报,在动手实践中强化步骤叙述与口语表达能力。
Digital Exploration sessions allowed students to apply their problem-solving skills using Dash robots. Teams worked together to code, prototype, and test solutions to real-world challenges like message delivery and obstacle navigation. This blend of design thinking and basic coding fostered creativity and teamwork in an engaging, tech-rich environment.
数字探索课上,学生们分组编程Dash机器人完成信息传递、障碍导航等现实挑战,将设计思维与基础编程相结合,在科技环境中培养团队创造力。

Students also explored rhythm, melody, and musical collaboration in music class through singing and playing instruments like the ukulele. In art, their nature-inspired cardboard sculptures demonstrated growing confidence with form, texture, and composition. Obstacle courses and swimming games in PE rounded out the week, building agility, strength, and coordination.
音乐课上,学员们通过尤克里里演奏与合唱探索节奏旋律协作;艺术课的自然主题纸板雕塑展现了他们对造型、质感和构图的驾驭力;体育课的障碍训练与游泳游戏则进一步提升了敏捷性与协调性。

Innovators (Ages 9–11)
创新者班(9-11岁)

In the Innovators programme, students deepened their understanding of the engineering design process through a series of exciting challenges. They began by constructing 3D shapes from pencils and clay, then advanced to designing catapults and creating paper roll marble runs—all while working in teams to plan, test, and improve their models. These experiences supported critical and creative thinking, as well as collaboration and communication skills.
创新者班通过铅笔黏土3D建模、投石机设计、纸筒弹珠轨道等团队挑战,深化对工程设计流程的理解。这些活动同步培养了批判性思维、创造力与团队沟通能力。



English lessons focused on instructional writing. Students practiced giving and following step-by-step directions linked to their STEM tasks, improving sequencing, clarity, and fluency through real-world application.
英语课结合STEM任务开展说明文写作训练,学员们在编写步骤指令中提升逻辑清晰度与语言流畅度。
Digital Exploration extended the innovation theme as students programmed Dash robots to complete classroom challenges. Teams brainstormed, prototyped with Lego and classroom tools, coded their solutions, and then reflected on how to improve. This integrated experience combined coding with design thinking and collaborative problem-solving.
数字探索课延伸创新主题,学员们用乐高工具搭建原型并编程Dash机器人,最后通过集体反思优化方案,实现编程、设计思维与协作解决问题的深度融合。


In music, Innovators explored group performance by taking on roles as musicians and characters, preparing for the learning celebration while developing leadership and coordination. In art, they refined their clay sculptures by adding colour and texture, enhancing their understanding of balance and form. PE lessons included obstacle course challenges and cooperative pool games that tested agility and resilience.
音乐课上,学员们通过分角色演奏筹备成果展,锻炼领导力与团队配合;艺术课的黏土雕塑上色与肌理加工深化了对平衡与形态的理解;体育课的障碍挑战与水上协作游戏则考验了韧性体能。

A field trip to the Guangzhou Science Museum brought the week’s learning to life, with hands-on exhibits about space, physics, and the human body that sparked new curiosity and conversation.
广州科学中心的实地考察将本周学习推向高潮,太空、物理与人体主题的互动展项激发了全新探索热情。
Throughout the week, our Future Leaders demonstrated the UISG values of curiosity, collaboration, and perseverance.
They practiced essential academic and life skills—
while discovering how innovation, creativity, and teamwork are all connected.
