As a DSE teacher, I had the honor of accompanying our students to Hong Kong on April 1st and 2nd, 2025, for the Chinese Language exam. During those two intense days—traveling, waiting and witnessing the exam process up close—I wasn’t just there as a teacher, but as someone who got a real taste of what it feels like to be a DSE candidate. I saw the nerves, the focus, the quiet determination, and I felt the weight of it all alongside our students.
The Utahloy International School Zengcheng for Expatriates is to be an inclusive, holistic and innovative learning community, which encompasses a strong set of values that lead to our guidelines. Providing our school with a theoretical framework, it will guide our actions and lead our students to recognize and embrace the future with greater confidence and become compassionate global citizens.
From a shy Year 7 student to Head Boy in Year 12—and now holding a top-university offer—Chan’s six years at UISZ read like the most moving growth story I’ve ever witnessed. Boarding taught him self-discipline, the IB honed his thinking, and MUN & Student Council turned a quiet boy into a leader.
