Our Year 12 students are in the middle of their DP exams and our Year 10 will start their eAssessments this coming Monday. Meanwhile, one DSE student returned to us this week after some time spent in Hong Kong to complete his DSE exams.
这周，12年级的同学们正在进行DP考试，10年级的同学们则会在下周一开始进行 eAssessment。同时，一名DSE的同学在香港完成DSE考试后回到了我们当中。
12학년 학생들은 DP 시험이 한창 진행 중이며 10학년 학생들은 이번 주 월요일부터 온라인 평가(eAssessments)를 시작합니다. 또한, DSE 학생 중 한 명은 DSE 시험을 마치기 위해 홍콩에서 시간을 보낸 후 이번 주에 학교로 돌아왔습니다.
As for the rest of the students, they are positively engaged in the end of year preparation, which consists in a healthy mix of celebrations and summative exams preparation. Next week, we will provide more information on the transition weeks for Year 5 and 10, as well as moving on ceremonies and summative week.
而其他的同学们正积极地投入到期末准备中，在这个过程中，是包含着庆祝活动和期末考试准备工作的健康配搭。

On-site College Counselling: We are happy to inform that UISZ has teamed up with UISG to offer College Counseling services. Ms Ye In Oh, College Counselor will spend three full days at UISZ where she will give presentations to our Year 11 DP and DSE students and will also offer individual sessions with our students. The dates of her visit will be May 9, May 23, and June 6. She has access to BridgeU.

CIS Virtual University Fair: our Year 11 DP and DSE spent a few hours with students from other schools and university representatives from around the world. The echoes we received were very positive and prepares them well for the upcoming visit of Ms Ye In Oh, our College Counselor until the end of the year.

CIS 원격 대학 박람회：11학년 DP와 DSE는 다른 학교 학생들 및 전 세계의 대학 대표들과 몇 시간을 보냈습니다. 학생들의 반응은 매우 긍정적이었으며, 다가오는 학년말 대학 카운슬러인 오예인 선생님 방문을 앞두고 좋은 준비를 할 수 있었습니다.
Online Counselling: please note that the school has retained the services of a Hong Kong’s reputable Counseling firm to complement our students support programme. Students can meet the counselor online from Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 11:00 am. This service is available until June 16. Ms Lindsey Walsh will be our new onsite Counselor from the beginning of the school year 2023.

The inaugural Primary Interhouse Football Tournament kicked off this Wednesday, along with some fast-paced action and fierce rivalry. Both the lower and upper primary house teams placed in similar fashion where the bronze medal match will take place between Water and Earth House next week Wednesday. The finals play host to Wind and Fire house, and there will be a Teacher versus Parents game to round off what looks to be a great Wednesday ahead. See you there!

이번 주 수요일, 제1회 초등학교 하우스 간 축구 토너먼트가 숨 가쁜 경기와 치열한 경쟁 속에 막이 올랐습니다. 초등부 저학년 팀과 고학년 팀 모두 비슷하게 순위가 결정되어 다음 주 수요일에 워터 하우스와 어스 하우스 간의 동메달 결정전이 열립니다. 결승전에서는 윈드 하우스와 파이어 하우스의 경기가 열리며, 교사 대 학부모 경기로 멋진 수요일을 마무리할 예정입니다. 모두 경기장에서 만나요 !

This week we learned new units, “What is my name” and “How many people are there in my family”. Students learned and mastered new words and grammar, introduced themselves, interviewed classmates and gave oral presentations. We also completed poster introduced by family members. Students have a strong interest in the names of Chinese family members.
本周我们学习了新的单元，“我叫什么”“我家有几口人”。学生学习和掌握了新的生词和新的语法，做了自我介绍，采访了同学并且做了口头报告。我们还完成了家庭成员介绍的手抄报。学生对中国家庭成员之间的称呼产生了浓厚的兴趣。
이번 주에는 “내 이름은 무엇이고”, “우리 가족은 몇 명인지”에 대한 새로운 단원을 공부했습니다. 학생들은 새로운 단어와 문법을 배우고 익히고, 자신을 소개하고, 반 친구들을 인터뷰하고, 발표를 했습니다. 또한 가족을 소개하는 포스터도 완성했습니다. 학생들은 가족 구성원의 중국어 이름에 큰 관심을 보였습니다.

Last week, we started a new unit “People and Nature”. We studied Zhu Ziqing’s “Spring”, learned the reading skills and writing techniques of describing scenes and lyrical essays, and learned various rhetorical techniques. At the same time, we also did dictation. This week, we completed a formative — a reading practice about lyrical writing about scenery, and explained it, and the students also made corrections. We will start a new class on Liang Heng’s “Summer Sense” this Thursday. I hope that students can feel the changes of the four seasons, the beauty of nature, enjoy life, and combine work and rest while studying.
上一周我们开启了新的单元“人与自然”，我们学习了朱自清的《春》，学习了写景抒情文的阅读技巧和写作手法，学习了多种修辞手法，同时我们也做了听写。本周，我们完成了一个formative—有关写景抒情文的阅读练习题，并且做了讲解同学们也做了订正。我们在本周四开始新的一课梁衡的《夏感》。希望同学们在学习之余，也能感受到四季的变换，大自然的美好，享受生活，劳逸结合。

Last week, we launched a new theme unit “Technology and Development” to help students understand the characteristics of popular science articles and the differences from general explanatory articles, and understand some natural science knowledge and the impact of technology on the environment and human cognition. This week we continue to open a new lesson “Why Are Flowers So Red”, so that students can have a strong interest in Chinese while learning about natural science.
上一周我们开启了新的主题单元“科技与发展”，帮助同学们了解科普性文章的特点及与一般说明文的区别，了解一些自然科学知识及科技对环境和人类认知的影响。本周我们继续开启新的一课《花儿为什么这样红》，让同学们在了解自然科学知识的同时，对语文产生浓厚的兴趣。
지난주에는 학생들이 대중 과학 기사의 특징과 일반 설명 기사와의 차이점을 이해하고 자연 과학 지식과 기술이 환경과 인간의 인식에 미치는 영향을 이해하는 데 도움이 되는 새로운 주제 단원 “기술과 개발”을 시작했습니다. 이번 주에는 학생들이 자연과학에 대해 배우면서 중국어에 대한 흥미를 가질 수 있도록 “꽃은 왜 그토록 붉은가”라는 새로운 수업을 계속 진행합니다.

This week we continue to “speech”, from Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” to Song Meiling’s speech to the US Congress in 1943, we continue to feel the demeanor of great men and the charm of speeches. This week, students need to complete a summative. They need to choose one of the eight speech topics to complete their speech. Students need to present on stage, and students in the audience need to score and complete self-evaluation. This will not only exercise students’ critical thinking ability, but also exercise their eloquence, so that they will not be stage fright in any speech on any occasion in the future.
本周我们继续“演讲”，从马丁·路德·金的《我有一个梦想》到宋美龄1943年美国国会演讲，我们继续感受伟人的风采，演讲的魅力。本周同学们需要完成一个summative，需要从八个演讲题目中任选一个来完成自己的演说，同学们需上台展示，台下的同学们需要评分并且需要完成自我评价。这样不仅能锻炼同学们的思辨能力，还能锻炼同学们的口才，以后在任何场合的任何发言都不会怯场。
이번 주에도 마틴 루터 킹의 “나는 꿈이 있습니다”부터 1943년 Song Meiling의 미국 의회 연설에 이르기까지 위인들의 자세와 연설의 매력을 계속 느낄 수 있는 “연설”단원을 이어갑니다. 이번 주에 학생들은 요약문을 작성해야 합니다. 학생들은 8가지 연설 주제 중 하나를 선택하여 연설을 완성해야 합니다. 무대에서 발표하고 청중의 학생들은 점수를 매기고 자기 평가를 완성합니다. 이를 통해 학생들은 비판적 사고력을 기를 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 웅변력도 기를 수 있어 앞으로 어떤 연설에서도 무대 공포증을 겪지 않게 될 것입니다.

This week we learned about statistics, including mode, mean, quartile, standard deviation and variance. We looked in depth at standard deviation, which is a measure of how far a set of values diverges from the mean. A large standard deviation means that most of the values differ from their mean value. The students took an active part in class activities.
本周我们学习了统计方面的知识，包含众数、平均数、四分位数、标准差与方差。我们深入学习了标准差，标准差是一组数值自平均值分散开来的程度的一种测量观念。一个较大的标准差,代表大部分的数值和其平均值之间差异较大；一个较小的标准差，代表这些数值较接近平均值。同学们积极地参与了课堂活动。
이번 주에는 모드, 평균, 사분위수, 표준편차, 분산 등 통계에 대해 배웠습니다. 특히 값 집합이 평균에서 얼마나 멀리 떨어져 있는지를 나타내는 척도인 표준편차에 대해 자세히 살펴보았습니다. 표준편차가 크다는 것은 대부분의 값이 평균값과 다르다는 것을 의미합니다. 학생들은 수업 활동에 적극적으로 참여했습니다.

This week, DSE students have been working on the chapter of efficiency and fairness, which is quite varied and similar, so they have been working in small groups to share their knowledge with each other to enhance their memory. We used a padlet format to present the content so that students could learn the basics of the textbook as well as soft skills in design and production that are used in daily life.
本周学生主要学习了效率与公平章节的知识点，这一部分知识点比较繁多以及相似，因此通过小组合作的形式，同学们相互交流来加强记忆。本次小组合作我们使用了padlet 网页制作的形式来呈现内容，学生在掌握课本内的基础知识的同时，也能够学习一些生活中使用到的设计以及制作的软技能。
이번 주 DSE 학생들은 매우 다양하고 비슷한 내용을 담고 있는 효율성과 공정성 단원을 학습하면서 소그룹으로 나뉘어 서로의 지식을 공유하며 기억력을 향상시켰습니다. 학생들이 교과서의 기본 내용뿐만 아니라 일상 생활에서 사용되는 디자인과 제작에 대한 기술까지 배울 수 있도록 패드릿 형식을 사용하여 발표했습니다.
In addition, they took part in Earth Day, where they enjoyed themselves. Especially Ethan and David, who had fun making a pattern for a tree planting tray.
另外，我们DSE的学生还参加了earth day ，学生们都乐在其中，特别是Ethan和David 同学，制作的植树花盘的图案，十分有趣。
또한 지구의 날 행사에도 참여하여 즐거운 시간을 보냈습니다. 특히 Ethan과 David는 나무 심기 트레이에 들어갈 디자인을 만들며 즐거워했습니다.
