UISG’s music program is designed to engage students at all levels, from beginners to advanced musicians. The second DP Music Recital of the 2024-2025 academic year took place last Tuesday, March 4.
3月4日（周二），我校成功举办了本学年第二场IBDP音乐专场演奏会。
With our Class of 2025 (DP2) completing their DP Music ‘Presenting Music’ requirements, it was left to our sole DP1 Music student to perform. However, with the generous help of a Year 10 Music violinist, this performance did not have to become a solo recital.
在2025届DP2学生完成”音乐呈现”考核后，这场以DP1音乐生为主力的演出因十年级小提琴手的倾情加盟，呈现出令人欣喜的协奏魅力。
Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) was well represented. JS Bach was the best known of a large, distinguished family of German musicians, famous in his lifetime as a keyboard player (harpsichord and organ) and now considered one of the greatest composers of all time from the Western Art Music tradition, in which the year of his death is often considered the end of the Baroque period (1600 – 1750).
整场音乐会堪称巴赫作品鉴赏专场。这位巴洛克时期巨匠（1685-1750）出身德国音乐世家，生前以羽管键琴与管风琴演奏闻名于世，其逝世年份常被视为西方古典音乐巴洛克时期（1600-1750）的终结标志。如今，他已被公认为人类艺术史上最伟大的作曲家之一。
The DP Music Recital opened with ‘Prelude and Fugue in D, BWV 874’, expertly played by our DP1 pianist.
演出以DP1钢琴生精湛演绎的《D大调前奏与赋格曲（BWV 874）》拉开序幕。
The ‘Giga’ from the ‘Violin Partita No. 2 in D Minor, BWV 1004’ followed, courtesy of our ‘next generation’ – the Class of 2027.
随后，来自2027届的”新生代力量”完美呈现了《D小调第二无伴奏小提琴组曲（BWV 1004）》中的吉格舞曲。
JS Bach’s third ‘appearance’ came courtesy of the Head of Performing Arts, performing the ‘Prelude’ from the ‘Cello Suite No. 2 in D minor, BWV 1008’ on the viola.
表演艺术学科主任更以中提琴创新演绎了《D小调第二无伴奏大提琴组曲（BWV 1008）》前奏曲，向这位音乐巨匠致以三重致敬。
American pianist-composer George Gershwin (1898 – 1937) brought us back closer to the present day to bring the DP Music Recital to an end. His classic jazz standard ‘I Got Rhythm’ was played by our DP1 pianist in a solo piano arrangement.
音乐会尾声，DP1钢琴生以独奏形式带来美国作曲家乔治·格什温（1898-1937）的爵士经典《我找到了节奏》，带领观众穿越回近现代音乐时空。
It was satisfying to present this program to a Year 8 class, teachers, and members of our leadership team. The composer and performer are incomplete without an audience. We thank you for your support!

Our Class of 2028 will take to the stage next week for their Year 9 Music solo performance unit ‘Concert Time’, showcasing the role of performer from the three roles: performer, creator, and researcher. We may be seeing the debut performances from future DP Music students. Stay tuned.
