Happy Friday and Character Day! I would like to share a highlight from this week that underscores our school’s growing connections with premier universities in Guangzhou. Yesterday, I had the privilege of speaking at Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University (GPNU), to present to over 80 future teachers and faculty on the power of an IB education. The students and leadership at GPNU are eager to build stronger connections with UISG for future collaboration and exchange of ideas.
I spoke with pride about how UISG fosters critical thinking, creativity, and global-mindedness students need to thrive in the future, which may not exist. After the presentation, I had the pleasure of meeting with the GPNU leadership; this partnership is a true testament to our commitment to educational excellence:

尊敬的UISG大家庭：
周五安康！值此角色扮演日活动之际，我很荣幸与大家分享本周彰显我校与广州顶尖学府深化合作的亮点时刻。昨日，我受邀在广东技术师范大学外国语学院发表主题讲座，向八十余名师范生与教育工作者阐释IB国际课程的育人力量。广东技术师范大学外国语学院师生领导层热切期望与UISG构建更紧密的合作关系，共筑未来教育交流平台。
我在讲座中自豪地阐述了UISG如何通过教育培养面向未来的核心素养——那些未来世界亟需的批判性思维、创造能力与全球视野。专题讲座结束后，我与广东技术师范大学外国语学院领导层进行了深度会谈，此次合作充分彰显我们对卓越教育的不懈追求：

School Photos – Monday 3rd November
Next week we will have our school photos taken. Just a reminder to make sure your child is in their school uniform, if they have PE that day, please send them with a change of clothes.
Primary Talent Show – Thursday 6th November
ALL parents are invited to come along to the Primary Talent Show, with 27 acts this year, our students are ready to showcase their talents. Start at 13:15 in the MFH, we look forward to seeing many of you there.
There will be a Parent Power-Up beforehand, see below for more details.
NEW EVENT PYP Open Morning – Thursday 13th November
Many of you have been asking what learning experiences in UISG look like, well now is your chance to find out. We are inviting all our parents to spend the morning in the classroom with their child(ren), come and experience a specialist class and the homeroom on Thursday 13th November, 8:15 – 9:55am. This will be followed by a Parent Power-Up, with 3 (yes 3!) to choose from! See below for more details.
* Grade 4 and 5 Parents, come in your gym gear, you get to experience a PE class, and yes, you will be joining in 😊
Grade 1 – 5 Sports Day, ECA Fair & Family Picnic – Wednesday 19th November
It was so good last year, we just had to do it again this year!
Save the date for the 19th November, Primary Sports Day is BACK and it’s bigger and better than before.
And of course…Don’t forget your picnic blankets, yummy foods, and a family member or two to share a yummy picnic for lunch.

Grade 6-10 Camps
We are pleased to announce that the Grade 6-10 Camps have been re-scheduled for March 30 – April 3. There is one change of venue to the Grade 6 Camp which will now be going to Yangshuo. Other Grade levels will be as previously planned. Further information will be shared in Semester 2.
Duke of Edinburgh ‘adventurous journey’
Twenty Grade 9 students are heading out this afternoon for their Duke of Edinburgh ‘adventurous journey’ practice. They will work on campcraft skills, navigation and teamwork. The Duke of Edinburgh is a prestigious, globally recognised award that helps students to build Resilience & Confidence, Leadership & Teamwork and Life Skills that will benefit students academically and personally.
Student Council President elections
Inspiring speeches from our five Student Council Presidential candidates gave the Secondary students a vision of what each of them would bring to the role of President. The winner will be announced in next week’s parent letter. This week coming we have Grade level representative elections.
College Counselling
The University Fair last week was a great success, with 100 university reps offering advice, information and guidance to our Grade 9-12 students. We also have Hong Kong University presenting to students on Monday November 3rd (sign up: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/pages/responsepage.aspx?id=5YoXLeM9dk6i2NIR249pURhguwOoJa1HkGmyQCgjNXlUNzlEWE4yUVhKVzMyRUJOSDQ5VUVBNlo2WC4u&route=shorturl), which follows on from Nanyang Technological University visiting two weeks ago. It has been really rewarding to see our students being provided with the knowledge and information to help guide their current and future choices.

爱丁堡公爵奖“冒险之旅”
今天下午，二十名9年级学生将出发去进行爱丁堡公爵奖“探险之旅”的实践。他们将学习营地技能、导航和团队合作。爱丁堡公爵奖是一项享有盛誉、全球认可的奖项，有助于学生培养韧性与自信、领导力与团队合作精神以及生活技能，这对学生在学业和个人发展方面都有益处。
学生会主席选举
我们5位学生会主席候选人鼓舞人心的演讲，让中学部的学生们看到了他们各自担任主席后会带来什么。获选者将在下周的家长信中公布。本周我们将进行年级代表选举。
大学咨询

Dear UNC Parents,
Next week, the school has arranged a group photo shoot for the yearbook. The following are arrangements related to UNC classes.
- On the morning of 10:30-10:50 on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, UNC classes will take group photos for the yearbook. Please have your children wear a green polo shirt uniform that day. For students in the UNC Nido class who do not have a uniform, you can have your child wear any other green shirt.
- The UISG faculty and staff annual photo session will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025, from 3:30-3:45 PM. To ensure that all UNC faculty members can attend the photo session, parents who drive their children to school are kindly requested to support us by picking up their children early on Monday at 3:20 PM. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding and support!
