February 13, 2026: Celebrating Together: Final Week Festivities & Xin nian kuai le!
Thank you to all the families who joined us for our Chinese New Year celebrations this past week. It has been a wonderful week filled with lively performances from students and staff, and the warm presence of parents and community members gathering to welcome the Year of the Horse. We are deeply grateful for your participation and for the UISG Spirit you bring.
As we close out this week, I wish you all a joyful and restful Chinese New Year holiday. UISG will be closed for the next two weeks, offering everyone time to recharge and be with family.
A quick reminder: classes will resume on Wednesday, March 4, kicking off a busy month ahead. We have student activities, camps, and community events to look forward to—including UEF Family Day on Friday, March 21.
The horse represents energy, drive, and a free-spirited pursuit of progress. This is not a year for passivity or rigid conformity—it is a year to chase goals, break records, and let individual strengths shine. Whether you are traveling, celebrating traditions, or enjoying quiet time at home, I hope this new year brings you and your loved ones prosperity, warmth, and renewal.

A Vibrant Celebration of Community and New Beginnings
At the end of last week, staff from Utahloy Education Foundation came together for a spectacular Spring Festival dinner to welcome the Year of the Horse. The evening was a beautiful showcase of our community spirit, filled with vibrant performances from lion dances to heartfelt music. It was a wonderful moment of shared warmth and optimism, setting a hopeful tone for the year ahead as we continue our journey together.
UISG Robotics Teams Excel at VEX Nationals in Shanghai
Last weekend our robotics teams demonstrated their resilience and skill at the VEX 全国大赛 in Shanghai.
The veteran squad Ctrl+Alt+Defeat achieved 22nd place in the V5 division, while our secondary team executed a flawless last-minute redesign.

V5 Division
In the VEX IQ division, the Byte Wolves secured 44th through strong teamwork, and our rookies, UISG D, impressively recovered from travel damage to finish 30th.

We are immensely proud of how our students represented UISG with such mechanical grit and coding genius.
February Birthdays Celebrated at the Wolf Cafe
We had the pleasure of celebrating our wonderful staff with February birthdays this week. A special breakfast was hosted in their honour at the Wolf Cafe on Wednesday morning, where we shared treats and warm birthday wishes. We hope everyone enjoyed the celebration and had a fantastic start to their special month.

Savoring the World : K2 Moms Lead the Way in Hands-On Learning
The K2s are engaging in the 我们是谁 unit, focusing on our five senses. Active parent involvement in children’s learning at school creates positive experience and impact. In our “Meals with Moms” series, groups of K2 moms come to class to lead cooking activities.

Last January, two Korean moms taught us how to make Jumeokbap-an easy and satisfying dish. It was also a meaningful way of exposing children to other culture.

This week, another group of moms guided the children in making dumplings, an activity that is also related to the upcoming Lunar New Year. 2 busy moms made time to lead the fun activity of making Chinese dumplings “Jiǎo Zi.” The children got busy slicing, mixing, and shaping the dumplings.

When children are excited, able to use their senses, and find pleasure in what they are doing, learning becomes effective.
K3 Chinese New Year Celebration — Parent-Led Activities

Our K3 Chinese New Year celebration was a wonderful success, with K3 parents leading a series of hands-on activities: children enjoyed “Throwing Arrows into a Pot” to test their aim and luck; a playful straw game had them sucking up small red “blessing” cards to symbolize drawing in good fortune; families created festive art during “Printing Painting Chinese New Year Pictures”; and the day concluded warmly as everyone made dumplings together, sharing tradition, laughter, and a sense of community.

Grade 4 Business Bonanza — Young Entrepreneurs, Big Impact
Grade 4

On Thursday 12 February the outdoor basketball court at UISG rang with the sound of happy customers enjoying homemade snacks, drinks, crafts and games as Grade 4 held their annual Business Bonanza to celebrate the end of the How We Organise Ourselves unit of inquiry. Investigating the central idea that “ethical businesses understand changing markets and adapt to be sustainable”, students explored needs and wants, goods and services, and supply and demand, researched ethical and sustainable practices, including fast fashion, and organised a swap shop for unused items to model responsible consumption.

In small business groups they brainstormed ideas, conducted market research, planned, made and tested products, and designed marketing campaigns under rules of no plastic, no buying and reselling, and a limited budget. On sale day students and teachers from K3 to Grade 6 enjoyed a wide range of items — hot chocolate, lemonade, brownies, games, magnets, painted canvases, bracelets and hand‑knitted scarves — and the students will now use their mathematical skills to calculate their profits and decide which charities to donate to. Thank you to all staff, families and students who made this authentic learning experience possible.

DSE Open Morning Connects Families to New Campus

This week, our campus hosted a dedicated Open Morning for the DSE program, where students and parents got a first look at the new learning spaces and campus facilities. The morning featured a special presentation from Superintendent Dr. Mullen, DSE Coordinator Mr. Zhang, and Head of Boarding Mr. Rihan, who shared insights about the program and boarding life. Guests then enjoyed guided campus tours and finished the visit by sharing lunch together, connecting as a community.

Celebrating the Year of the Horse:
Secondary Students Shine with Culture and Talent

UISG’s Secondary Division celebrated Chinese New Year in style! From lively lion dances and hip-hop to Korean traditional fan dance performances, our students lit up the stage with incredible talent. A huge thank you to our emcees, backstage crew, and everyone who made the afternoon unforgettable. Wishing our whole community a joyful and prosperous Year of the Horse!

Love in Every Bag: Student Council Spreads Agape Across Campus

Bringing the spirit of love into the final week of school, the Student Council wishes to spread agape spirit to the whole school community: not just for romance, but to spread community love. We have sold gift bags filled with sweet snacks and DIY letters to students and staff, and our grade level representatives deliver them to the customers’ loved ones. Through this activity, we hope to encourage people to reflect on who they love, and how they can love those important to them.

Grade 4
