On January 18 We went to the AIO (Art Institute of the Orient) in Shamian Island. We had experience of seeing how Shamian Island had changed since migrants came into China to do business, hundreds of years ago. Whilst we were learning we also had fun activities to do.
A long time ago, some countries asked the Chinese Emperor if they could come to do business in China. A few countries sent people to live in Shamian. They made each part of the Island look like their country. The buildings are very different to old Chinese buildings. Now, some of the old buildings still stand there. This shows how migration influenced changes in the city.
We also did fun activities, mosaic, which is an imported art form and acrylic paintings of the old buildings.
This wonderful trip made us experience how migration has changed design and culture and with the fun activities we did, we will never forget this trip.
