Dear parents, students, and friends of the UISZ community,
Week 4 is already a thing of the past with our first long weekend at our doors. We hope that the whole community will spend quality time with their loved ones and enjoy plenty of moon cakes during this festive weekend. Please note that the school will resume its operations on Monday, September 12, 7 pm, as our boarders will begin to return to school. The general back to school will be this Tuesday, September 13.
Please note that our ECA programme will start a week from now. It is essential that all students register so that we can organize the bus logistics adequately.
Some clarification for the secondary school:
Uniforms and dress code:please note that students have been informed last Wednesday that uniforms are always mandatory, if they want to attend classes. For boarders, the rule of thumb would be to have two PE sets, three white tops, and two shorts/skort/trousers. Students who fail to respect the uniform policy will not be able to attend classes.
Gaming and social media: we also informed students that we reserve the right to withhold any student’s device until the end of the day if we see them using social media or engage in video games.
The sole presence of a game or social media icon on the screen is a reason to take such action. Social media use does is not included in our BYOD policy.

4주차가 벌써 지나고 우리는 첫 번째 긴 주말은 앞두고 있습니다. 우리는 이 축제 주말 동안 모두가 사랑하는 사람들과 함께 풍성한 시간을 보내고 많은 월병을 먹기를 바랍니다. 학교는 기숙학생들이 학교로 돌아오는 9월 12일 월요일 오후 7시에 운영을 재개할 예정입니다. 수업은 9월 13일 화요일에 시작함을 알려드립니다.

우리는 학생들이 소셜 미디어를 사용하거나 비디오 게임을 하는 것이 적발될 시에 해당 일의 방과후까지 학생들의 기기를 압수할 수 있다고 알렸습니다. 화면에 게임이나 소셜 미디어 아이콘이 있는 것만이 해당 조치에 처해질 수 있습니다. 소셜 미디어 사용은 우리의 BYOD 정책에 포함되지 않습니다.
The Year 3 learners have started exploring the idea of nature and this influences self-expression. They have started looking for answers to their questions surrounding this topic, while connecting this to their literacy learning through poetry.
This has been an insightful journey thus far, especially with the inclusion of journals for learners to document and reflect on their ongoing learning journey. These journals help the learners to reflect on their thoughts in more detail, as well as express their ideas using the medium of poetry.
They also had the opportunity to engage with secondary learners and their Theory of Knowledge (TOK in the Diploma Program) exhibition. This was a great opportunity for the Year 3 group to be inspired with ideas for their own exhibition, which will form part of their end of unit assessment in a few weeks’ time.

Visual Arts — Acrylic Accessibility
We, year four art students, explored acrylic paints on stretched canvases. A lesson on accessibility, possibility, and understanding of the medium is expected. The acrylic medium was the favourite medium in the art class since we could explore creamy texture, opaqueness, and smooth blending of paint using hog hairbrushes.It’s a quick drying medium so we were working fast and applying wet to wet technique with small strokes. Altogether, it’s an adventurous experience in the MYP art lesson.

Economics DP1
It is the fourth week of learning and in the Economics class with DP1 we had a summative assessment that helped us shed light on our progress, highlighting problem areas as well. Having finished our introductory topics into Economics we have been able to start our long journey into Microeconomics. Happy learning DP1s.
Economics DP2
IN DP2 our economics journey in Macroeconomics came to a halt having finished the macroeconomic objective: Low and Stable inflation. We are preparing to do a summative assessment next week on the same subtopic and we have begun Inequality and Poverty. Happy learning DP2s.
Language and Literature DP 1
We have been exploring various texts in the class including analysis of advertisements, magazines and now started on comic strips and Graphic novels. We have also started reading two of our texts: The Worlds Wife by Carol Ann Duffy and Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi. Integrated Humanities Year 10
We have been learning some principles on how to produce and what to produce as basic economic problems. Students started their research projects for the units and even provided mock powerpoint presentations on assessments tasks assessed formatively. Great job year 10s.
