In the heart of Southern China, amidst the bustling city of Guangdong, a beacon of intellectual discourse and diplomacy shone bright as the Southern China International Model United Nations (SCIMUN) 2024 unfolded its grandeur. Hosted at the illustrious Hilton Shenzhen Shekou Nanhai from March 14th to 16th, 2024, this annual conference drew participants from diverse corners of the globe, all united by a common goal: to confront the challenges of humanity through diplomatic dialogue and cooperation.

This year’s theme, “Confronting Humanity,” encapsulated the essence of the conference, calling upon delegates to delve into the complexities of human nature and its intricate relationship with the pressing issues of our time. From climate change to socio-economic disparities, from political conflicts to global health crises, SCIMUN 2024 provided a platform for rigorous debate and innovative solutions, all with the overarching aim of fostering peace, equality, and prosperity in an increasingly interconnected world.

Among the many distinguished delegates who graced the conference, one name stood out in particular – Cowen, a Year 11 student from Utahloy International School Zengcheng. Representing Palestine in the UN Development Programme Committee, Cowen’s exemplary diplomatic skills and insightful contributions earned him the coveted title of Best Delegate. His remarkable achievement not only brought pride to his school but also underscored the caliber of talent and dedication present at SCIMUN 2024.
