K2’s Deep-Sea Discovery!
Our K2 explorers dove deep into their ‘Sharing the Planet’ unit of inquiry with a breathtaking underwater adventure at Aquatic World! The trip brought their classroom learning to life, focusing on how creatures coexist in fragile underwater ecosystems.

Guided by their inquiry into responsibility and interconnectedness, the children observed the quiet glow of moonlit jellyfish and the cheerful parade of waddling penguins, noting the unique role each animal plays. They discussed the importance of shimmering schools of fish, met gentle, lumbering turtles, and laughed along with playful, twirling seals—seeing firsthand how different lives share one ocean.
A true test of bravery came in the ocean tunnel, where they walked under the watchful glide of majestic sharks! The adventure crested with cheers for a magical mermaid performance, a dance of light and grace.
Filled with awe, laughter, and unforgettable memories, our little marine biologists surfaced with their imaginations truly set adrift. What a wave of a day!

Language of Innovation:
Coding and Creative Design in Our
Imaginarium
Within our vibrant Imaginarium, young learners are constantly discovering new ways to express ideas and solve problems. This term, as part of our inquiry into different forms of language, our students are mastering a powerful 21st-century dialect: the language of code.
In carefully guided small-group sessions, children are becoming confident coders. Using tactile coding cards, they translate symbols into precise instructions for our newest robotics friend, the Tail Bot Pro. The challenge? To logically plot a course from point A to B. The reward? Programming their robot to complete its journey with a celebratory dance. A moment of pure joy that reinforces the cause-and-effect power of their new skills.

This dedicated exploration of technological language happens alongside our core creative program. While one group collaborates on coding sequences, their peers in the mini-Imaginarium are deep in the design process, constructing original creations and practicing the vital arts of collaboration and shared explanation.

This integrated experience is a cornerstone of our weekly planning, designed to systematically build computational thinking and creative confidence. From the logic of a sequence to the narrative of a shared build, we are equipping our learners with the tools to analyze, create, and innovate.

Poetry in Motion:
A Poet’s Visit to Grade Three

The grade three students were treated to a guest poet visit this week from teacher/poet Mr. Steele. Normally in the high school, Mr. Steele has published two books of poetry and shared some of his writing experiences and influences with the grade three students. He spoke to them about writing poetry that is engaging and relates to their environment and senses and performed a few of his poems live to show the students his love of wordplay with a specific focus on rhythm, rhyme, and meter. The class were engaged and had lots of questions about writing, language, and publishing.

Through Grade 8 Eyes:
Exploring “Humans and Nature” in Art

Within our IB learning community, Grade 8 students recently transformed the Secondary atrium into a thoughtful art exhibition titled “Humans and Nature.” Guided by the inquiry question “How can art depict the complex relationship between humans and nature?”, the exhibition featured paintings, collages, and mixed-media works that explored themes of ecological connection, dependence, and reflection.
During lunch breaks, the space came alive with dialogue: students paused before artworks, teachers asked about creative choices, and even the principal engaged with young artists about the stories behind their pieces. Each work served not only as visual expression but also as a catalyst for conversation and critical thinking—embodying the IB emphasis on interaction, inquiry, and interdisciplinary connections. Here, art became more than representation; it emerged as a way of understanding our world.
Rising with Purpose:
How Our G11 Students Are Reshaping Philanthropy

Introducing the new generation behind UtahFresh: our Grade 11 IB students. Taking over a student-led initiative founded in 2018, they now manage weekly bread sales that support the cognitively challenged while promoting inclusion across our school.
But their impact goes further. Through thoughtful leadership, they’ve turned monthly profits into a donation for “Hopeful Heart,” funding vital heart surgeries for children in need. In uniting local service with global compassion, our G11 students aren’t just selling bread—they’re building a kinder world, one loaf at a time.
