On the cool morning of 19 November 2025, a fresh breeze swept across the UISG campus, but nothing could cool the warm excitement building for Primary Sports Day. Under pale sunlight that broke through the clouds, students, teachers, and families gathered, embracing the theme “RUN, JUMP, PLAY AND SHINE” with spirited determination.
When we return on Monday, December 1, we hit the ground running. We are adjusting the format of this ‘Week Ahead’ section to align with the feedback shared by parents—thank you for your input! Here is a streamlined look at the action-packed schedule
On Thursday afternoon of 20 November, secondary students from Utahloy International School of Guangzhou gathered in the Multi-Function Hall for this year’s 2025 Secondary Talent Show! Students from across grades 6 through 12 auditioned, practiced, rehearsed, and prepared to present their best skills, talents, and unique abilities in front of fellow students, teachers, parents, and principals. Viewers entered the MFH with the stage set and music playing to an atmosphere of excitement to see what students would bring to this year’s talent exhibition. Some students arrived prepared with posters and signs cheering on their favorite friends.
Grade 1 students successfully concluded their “How We Organise Ourselves” unit by hosting a Fun Fair for K3, Grade 2, teachers, and parents. Guided by the central idea that “Planning an event requires decision-making and collaboration to be successful,” the children spent six weeks learning to form teams, set goals, divide responsibilities, and use planning tools like checklists and posters. It was a fantastic demonstration of their growing ability to take responsibility and collaborate, resulting in a highly successful and joyful event.
Next week brings more highlights including the Grade 9 theatre performances, and our Grade 12 students taking their graduation photos at the AIO. Our MS Touch Rugby team will compete at AISG on Saturday the 29th. We also look forward to welcoming prospective families at Saturday’s Fawn Green Education Exhibition.
From November 13-15, our UISG Wolves cross–country team delivered a performance for the history books at the ACAMIS Championships. Competing against 11 schools and over 100 runners, our athletes demonstrated unparalleled grit, speed, and spirit, ultimately claiming the title of Overall ACAMIS Champions!
Light up your December! UIS’s International Festival of Light returns to UISG campus this December. As our largest event, it opens our doors to Guangzhou for a magical evening where the arts take centre stage. Immerse yourself in a world of music, dynamic performances, and stunning art as we celebrate the vibrant spirit and diversity that unites us. Don’t miss this spectacular winter highlight!
On November 13th, our Grade 11 and 12 students were treated to a fantastic dose of inspiration and practical advice, straight from the source! We were thrilled to welcome back two brilliant members of the Class of 2025, Anna Oh and Claire Yoo, who have seamlessly transitioned to their exciting new university chapters.
K3 students explored global cultural celebrations in our “Where We Are in Place and Time” unit. We welcomed parents who shared the story of Hangeul, the Korean alphabet, explaining its history and significance in an accessible way. Children practiced writing their names in Hangeul, boosting fine motor skills and personal connection. They also crafted traditional Korean “Gat” hats and enjoyed making and tasting gimbap. This hands-on session fostered cultural appreciation and showcased wonderful community partnership.
Looking ahead, we have an exciting week filled with important events, beginning with ECA sign-ups opening on Monday, allowing students to explore diverse co-curricular opportunities. Throughout the week, our focus will include Arts celebrations and Sports Days, followed by the ECA Fair on Thursday. The Secondary Talent Show, a highlight celebrating our students’ unique talents within our diverse student body: strengthening our community spirit. We also look forward to connecting with parents through various sessions scheduled throughout the week, further strengthening our vital home-school partnership.
