April 25, 2025: Shortened Week Ahead!
UISGコミュニティの皆様、
As we prepare for the upcoming holiday, I’d like to highlight some important upcoming events. Due to the May 1-2 holiday, we’ll have just three regular school days before the break next week.
This next week our DP students will commence their IB examinations, while our MYP students will launch into their Arts & Design showcase weeks – always a wonderful celebration of creativity. Our Year 2 students will then embark on their much-anticipated camp adventure from Monday through Tuesday.
I’d particularly like to draw attention to our UISG Artwork Collection Initiative (see poster below). This exciting project gives all students the opportunity to contribute original artwork for potential use in our school’s promotional materials, with the first project being custom tote bags. Submissions are due by May 1, and we encourage all aspiring artists to take part.
As we navigate this busy period, I’m continually impressed by our community’s dedication and creativity.

随着假期临近，我想提醒大家关注接下来几项重要安排。由于5月1日至2日放假，下周假期前我们仅有三个正常上课日。
下周，DP学生将开始IB考试，MYP学生则将迎来艺术与设计展示周。一如既往，这将是一场精彩的创意庆典。二年级学生将从下周一开始为期两天的露营活动，这场期待已久的探险定会充满乐趣。
特别提请关注我们的”UISG艺术作品征集计划”（海报详见下文）。该项目将遴选学生原创作品用于学校宣传品制作，首期项目将定制环保手提袋。投稿截止日期为5月1日，欢迎所有小艺术家们积极参与。
在这个忙碌的阶段，我们UISG社区所展现的奉献精神与创造力始终令我倍感钦佩。

What a book week! An exciting author, some mystery readers and of course our amazing book character parade. Thank you to the library team for organising all the events.
Student Led Conferences (SLCs)
I’d like to give parents advanced notice to keep some time on May 14 free. We will have SLCs, a time when your children tell you all about their learning, what has happened over the year, what they are proud of and what they are working on.
Sign up for SLCs will come from the Primary Office on May 5th. Watch this space for more information!
MAP Results
Parents will have all received their child’s MAP results this week. If you haven’t yet seen it, please check ManageBac, if you still can’t see them, please reach out to the primary office.
Just a reminder that MAP Growth is an assessment of a moment in time. While children all work very hard on their MAP test, the results may not always be reflective of their learning in the classroom. If you have any questions or concerns about the results, please reach out to your child’s homeroom teacher.
Holidays Are Coming
Just a reminder that there is no school next Thursday and Friday (May 1st and 2nd) for the national holiday. I hope you all enjoy a relaxing 4-day weekend.

MAP测试成绩
本周所有家长应已收到孩子的MAP测试成绩。若尚未查收，请登录ManageBac系统查看；如仍无法获取，请联系小学部办公室。温馨提示：MAP成长测试仅为阶段性学习快照，虽孩子们都认真应考，但成绩未必完全反映日常学习全貌。如有任何疑问，欢迎联系班主任老师详询。

Although it was a bit of a quieter week this week, we still had Book Week, Year 11 Business Bonanza, Year 11 Collaborative Science Project, Middle School basketball games, and an inaugural Middle School Dance.
Next week, the Year 12 final exams begin. Best wishes and good luck to our Seniors for these exams.
ブック・ウィーク
Monday had a mystery reader entertain homerooms with their chosen stories; Tuesday was a book week competition; Wednesday was character dress-up day (see the picture below); Thursday we had a visiting author; Friday culminated with a Drop Everything And Read (DEAR) activity. Students had a chance to read in their home language as well as in English, and I really hope we can keep alive the regular reading of books. Thank you to parents for encouraging your children to read.
Year 11 Business Bonanza
The atrium was filled on Thursday with entrepreneurial spirit, as the Year 11 Business students had the chance to put their learning into practice, with their one-day Business Bonanza. This kind of hands-on activity gives the students much greater insight into what it takes to plan, prepare and put into practice than theoretical classroom tasks. [It also gave other Secondary students a chance to buy a variety of different snacks!]
Year 11 Collaborative Science Project
Some of the best learning at school also happens when students see the connections between different subjects; how by using knowledge and skills from one subject it can enhance understanding of another subject. And the Year 11 Collaborative Science Project (CSP) provides that opportunity. It is a chance for students who are studying different sciences to come together and collaborate on a specific challenge, recognising how each science can work together to create a solution. Students will be displaying the products of their CSP on May 8th from 2:30 – 3:20pm.

阅读周
星期一有一个神秘读者，用他们挑选的故事来娱乐每个班级的学生；周二是阅读周竞赛；周三是角色装扮日（见下图）；周四我们有一位来访的作者；周五的高潮是“放下一切阅读（DEAR）”活动。学生们有机会阅读母语和英语，我真的希望我们能保持定期阅读的习惯。感谢父母鼓励孩子阅读。
11年级商业嘉年华
周四中庭充满了创业精神，因为11年级的商科学生有机会将他们的学习付诸实践，进行为期一天的商业活动。与理论课堂任务相比，这种实践活动能让学生更深入地了解如何计划、准备和付诸实践。这也让其他中学生有机会买到各种不同的零食！
11年级科学合作项目
在学校里，当学生看到不同学科之间的联系时，一些最好的学习机会也会发生；如何利用一门学科的知识和技能来增进对另一门学科的理解。11年级合作科学项目（CSP）提供了这样的机会。对于学习不同科学的学生来说，这是一个机会，让他们在一个特定的挑战上走到一起，合作，认识到每门科学如何共同创造一个解决方案。学生们将于5月8日下午2:30 – 3:20展示他们的CSP产品。
