In the lessons leading up to Dot Day, students explored the marks and connections they could make and how artists use different marks to inspire their art style. Our artists explored a variety of international artists whilst developing their understanding of colour by exploring mark making, colour mixing and different colour combinations. Each student from K to Year 6 created a collaborative sculpture with their dot. This was our hardest challenge yet, with each student needing to consider carefully the balance and structure of the piece as it evolved with every new dot. Problem solving and teamwork skills were put to the test. It was inspiring to see students choosing to connect their dot with a friend, and making a physical connection with their artwork, piecing each individual student and nationality together.
Happy Dot Day 2023!
