March 6, 2026: Welcome Back! A Busy March Awaits & Save the Date for 2026-2027
Welcome back! I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful and restful Chinese New Year break with your families.
It is fantastic to see our students returning to campus this week. Their energy and smiles are a wonderful sight as we kick off what promises to be an incredibly busy and exciting March, full of activities and learning opportunities.
This weekend, we also have the opportunity to celebrate International Women’s Day. To all the women of our UISG community, mothers, guardians, staff, and students, thank you for your invaluable contributions, strength, and the care you bring to our school every day. Happy International Women’s Day!
Looking ahead to next week, I am especially excited for our Primary students as they head off to camp. This is a wonderful opportunity for them to connect their learning outside the walls of UISG, strengthen bonds with their peers, and engage with our extended community in new and meaningful ways.
Looking further ahead, I am also pleased to share that the UISG 2026-2027 Academic Calendar has now been approved by the Board. It is shaping up to be another action-packed year, and we have incorporated feedback from across the school. You can view and download it on the UISG website here:
For now, let’s make the most of the great month ahead. Welcome back, everyone!

Welcome Back, Everyone!
What a joy it was to welcome our students back to campus this week after a restful and well-deserved Chinese New Year break. The hallways are once again filled with laughter and energy, and it’s wonderful to see everyone refreshed, revitalized, and ready to dive back into learning. Here’s to a vibrant and successful start to the Year of the Fire Horse — may it bring strength, passion, and exciting new adventures for our entire school community!

UISZ Students Enjoy a Day of Discovery at UISG

Today, our UISZ Early Years and Primary students embarked on a wonderful adventure to UISG! The visit gave children the chance to explore their future campus, make new friends, and enjoy a day of learning alongside their UISG peers.

For families continuing with UISZ’s transition to UISG next semester, this offered a valuable preview of your child’s new learning environment. For those pursuing other educational pathways, we hope this cross-campus experience brought meaningful moments and fond memories.

We truly appreciate your continued trust and support as we create these special opportunities together!

A Colorful Celebration: Making Tangyuan / Glutinous rice ball
What happens when beetroot juice, carrot juice and spinach juice meet glutinous rice flour? Magic!

Our little kitchen was filled with laughter today as our young learners became “little chefs.” With a helping hand from their teachers, they kneaded colorful dough, wrapped up sweet sesame fillings, and rolled them into adorable little balls. Sure, some tangyuan had a little “filling leakage”—but that didn’t dampen anyone’s enthusiasm one bit!

Tasting the colorful tangyuan they made with their own hands made this Lantern Festival extra sweet. Wishing everyone a life as colorful and complete as this bowl of tangyuan!

When Teachers Learn, Students Thrive
Primary PD Day with Kath Murdoch

This week, our PYP team learned from Kath Murdoch, one of the world’s most influential educators transforming how children learn. Our teachers focused on shifting from telling students what to learn to creating classrooms where students want to learn and take ownership of their own journey. They explored how to spark genuine curiosity, give students real choice and voice in their learning, build confident independent learners, and create meaningful experiences that actually stick.

Our teachers invested this time because they believe every child deserves to be an active, empowered learner. The strategies they’re bringing back will reshape our classrooms all year long, creating more dynamic, student-centered experiences. More engagement, greater ownership, stronger critical thinking, and learning that feels relevant to their lives are coming to a classroom near you.

Primary PD Day with Kath Murdoch
