- Friday brings the Duke of Edinburgh overnight for Grades 9 and 10, along with our Primary Talent Show in the MFH.
We are also hosting a UISG Open Day on Friday, a wonderful opportunity to showcase our vibrant community! Please feel free to spread the word for those who may be interested in learning more about UISG.
It is a busy and exciting week, with plenty of ways for our students to learn, compete, and engage in the community. Please mark your calendars for the upcoming UPTA All Parent Meeting on November 13, 2026.

Halloween Spirit Day:A Spooktacular Success!
万圣节快乐
HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Today our school celebrated Halloween Spirit Day, and what a joyful day it was! Students arrived in a wonderful array of costumes — spooky, silly, and superhero-inspired — and the creativity on display was brilliant to see. Classrooms and corridors were full of colour and excitement.

Thank you to families for helping students choose costumes that were school-appropriate, comfortable, and inclusive of all cultures and beliefs. It was lovely to see so many children joining in, while those who preferred to wear uniform or Halloween colours were equally part of the fun.

A big thank-you to everyone who helped create such a positive atmosphere.

Monsters, Math, and Magic:A Joyful Week in K1

This week in K1, after finishing our unit of inquiry, we explored the playful festivities of Halloween through a rich mix of creativity, storytelling, and hands-on learning. Children created their own books inspired by the Creepy Carrots!, Creepy Pair of Underwear!, and Creepy Crayon! series. They explored capacity through potion mixing maths provocations using language like full, nearly full, and empty, made creepy-cute spiders, and enjoyed drawing at our creatures in a jar table. One special highlight was our glow-in-the-dark monster party. Children took part in a glow-in-the-dark art lesson, drawing in the dark with fluorescent lights and watching their monsters come alive in bright fluorescent colors. They were excited to help prepare, and at the dance party everyone blended into the dark with little pops of fluorescent color, dance moves, a stage, and sparkly lights. It was a joyful week full of imagination, literacy, language, collaboration, and celebration.

Assessments in the MYP Parent Session
This week’s “Assessments in the MYP” parent session examined the purpose and process of assessment in the Middle Years Programme. Together we explored why assessment is conducted, how it is carried out, and what is assessed, gaining insight into the role of assessment in supporting student learning.

The session provided an overview of the four assessment criteria for each subject group, explaining how each criterion addresses a distinct aspect of student achievement. The process of determining a final grade for each subject was also outlined, including how criterion levels are combined to reach an overall achievement level. Participants were shown where these grades originate and how they appear on report cards, clarifying how continuous assessment connects to the reported achievement level.

The session concluded with an opportunity to consider how assessment information can be used to support learning at home.
Harry Potter Table Read Week!
Theatre + Literacy: Building Voices and Community
Harry Poter 2026

Table Read Week

This year, some dedicated students chose to read Harry Potter’s class textbook, “Quidditch Through The Ages” written by Kennilworthy Whisp (and JK Rowling). This is a new (Miss L.) tradition and happens during the last week of October as we bring the Performing Arts into the Atrium space for a lunchtime event. Miss L. chose a script reading because it often relieves the anxiety of improvisational theatre sports – and speaking or reading English for those who are new to the language. At the table, those who are more confident can read with dramatic flair and be the example for the newer language learners or shy students. All secondary students (and teachers) are welcome to join! This year, several students from upper primary who have a passion for reading and all things Harry Potter were also invited to join the table read! It has been a glorious week of magical sports, fun times, good reads, and sweet treats from Honeydukes of Diagon Alley!

Reading aloud isn’t just about performance – it’s a powerful tool for literacy and connection. When students read scripts together, they strengthen fluency, comprehension, and confidence. They explore language through character, emotion, and storytelling, making reading active and meaningful. Group reading also builds a sense of ensemble. Theatre becomes a safe space where every voice matters, and creativity thrives. Through shared reading, our teens aren’t just becoming better readers – they are becoming thoughtful, expressive, and collaborative artists.
Do keep a keen eye out for one of our other Visual or Musical Arts event happen throughout the year in the Atrium! The Performing Arts – Theatre student’s will be showcasing their work this coming December and we look forward to giving you the gift of entertainment!
