August 21, 2026: Celebrating Our Community and Looking Ahead to an Exciting Week
UISGコミュニティの皆様、
A huge thank you to all the parents who joined us for our first UPTA All-Parent Meeting for 2026–2027! It was a wonderful afternoon as we welcomed both new and returning families, shared our forward-looking planning, introduced our stellar new faculty, and highlighted the latest facility upgrades. With over 150 new students joining our UISG family this year, our community feels more vibrant and energized than ever for the year ahead.
Looking ahead, next week is packed with meaningful opportunities for parents, students, and staff.
On Monday, we will host our Secondary Grade Level Information Sessions—a key opportunity for parents to explore the MYP curriculum in greater depth, ask questions, and learn how to better support theirchild’s academic journey.
From Tuesday to Thursday, our Secondary students will take the NWEA MAP Tests, with make-up sessions scheduled for Friday. Please encourage your children to get plenty of rest and enjoy a nutritious breakfast each morning so they can approach these assessments with confidence and focus.
Beyond academics, we are also nurturing community spirit and student leadership. Throughout the week, our student-led Friendship Bracelet making stations will be available during break and lunch in Secondary, a simple yet lovely way to spread kindness and build connections.
To cap off the week, our young innovators will come together for the first Saturday Robotics Build Day (VEX IQ/V5)—a fantastic showcase of creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support.

2nd week : Building Community Together

Two weeks in, and something special is already happening – friendships are forming, trust is growing, and that sense of belonging is starting to settle in.

EY Community is not built through big events. It’s the little thing: a high-five at the door, a shy “good morning” that’s getting braver every day, two cubs sharing blocks for the first time, or a teacher kneeling to meet a child right where they are. Those small, everyday connections? That’s where UISG community starts.

Our Wolf Cubs thrive when the adults in their lives—teachers, families, caregivers—are truly connected. When we work together with kindness, children feel safe, confident, and ready to explore. And they’re watching us—learning what community looks like by how we treat each other.
So here we are, second week in, already becoming more than a classroom. We are a village—and we are so glad you are in ours.
With warmth,
ジャイさん

Week 2 wrap-up from Mr. Ben

As we close out week 2 in the Primary, we’re pleased to have continued momentum with community building. It was wonderful to welcome so many families onto campus this week for our Classroom Community Mornings and Afternoons. These sessions gave parents an opportunity to meet their child’s teacher, learn more about life and learning in the grade level, connect with other families, and strengthen the channels of communication between home and school.

Thank you especially to the parents who have stepped forward to serve as Class Representatives which is an important community-building role. Class Reps help welcome and connect families, share useful class information and reminders, support communication through the optional class WeChat groups, and act as a bridge between the parent community and the homeroom teacher. Where a Class Rep has been confirmed, details have been shared through ManageBac. If you would like to join your class WeChat group, please contact your Class Rep; and if your class is still looking for a representative, we warmly encourage you to consider stepping forward.

Our students also began two important parts of our Primary learning community this week. Personal Inquiry gives students dedicated time to pursue questions and interests that genuinely matter to them. Through cycles of wondering, questioning, investigating, reflecting and connecting ideas, students gradually develop greater ownership of their learning while strengthening skills such as research, critical thinking, problem-solving and self-management, all of which make up the essential elements of the PYP.

We also launched Buddy Readers, bringing older and younger Primary students together every two weeks to read, talk and build friendships. These buddy relationships will continue beyond reading throughout the year, giving students opportunities to connect during assemblies, celebrations and other shared experiences across Primary.
Grade 3: Place Value Explorations

We’ve been diving deep into place value this week in Grade 3, where students are doing a wonderful job exploring different ways to represent numbers! Through hands-on math stations, the children have been building their understanding of numbers up to 1,000 in multiple ways—writing them in standard form and expanded form, using place value charts with counters, and constructing numbers with base 10 blocks. In addition the children worked on a vocabulary card sort, where they practiced key math terms like “digit” and “value” while categorizing examples. The station rotation kept students actively engaged and encouraged critical thinking as they made connections between different representations of the same number. It’s been exciting to see them build confidence with these foundational skills!

Grade 5: Parents in the Classroom

This week, Early Years and Primary homerooms opened their doors to parents. In Mr. Paul’s Grade 5 class, visitors began with a brief tour of the classroom and a look at student work, before diving into a presentation on the year ahead. Parents were invited to leave a short positive note in their child’s drawer. Several families stayed afterward to ask questions, and while multiple parents offered to serve as class representative, the group ultimately settled on a single rep supported by a team of volunteer helpers. It was a positive start to the home‑school partnership.
