June 18: End of year assembly

A Year in Review : Our Final Whole School Assembly

On the final day of the academic year, our whole school gathered for the last assembly of 2025–2026.
The long-awaited House Championship trophy was awarded to ウォリアーズ, who emerged as this year’s overall champions. We also presented awards to outstanding students from Early Years, Primary, and Secondary sections, recognising their dedication, academic achievement, and positive contributions to our community. The celebration was further enriched by performances from our Primary Choir and a beautiful piano solo by James from Grade 10.

This assembly was not just about trophies and honours—it was a heartfelt moment to reflect on a year of growth, collaboration, and shared memories. We are immensely proud of every student’s progress and look forward to another inspiring year ahead.
UISG Named One of China’s Top 5 — Out of 400+ International Schools
Utahloy International School Guangzhou (UISG) has been named among the Top 5 international schools in China in the prestigious 4th China Best International Schools selection — a national benchmark that helps parents identify the most trusted, high-caliber international schools across China.

This is no small feat. Out of more than 400 invited schools nationwide, only 50 were shortlisted — and from that elite group, just five were named to the Top 5. With no single “winner,” UISG now stands shoulder-to-shoulder with only four other schools as one of China’s absolute best.

The official award ceremony took place on June 15–16, 2026, at Peking University, where UISG was presented with a trophy and certificate in recognition of this extraordinary achievement.

Building on this momentum, and following the closure of the IB and HKDSE programmes at our UISZ campus, UISG will expand its educational offerings from August 2026 with two significant additions:
- A full boarding program — drawing on 20 years of successful experience from our sister campus UISZ, now introduced at UISG
- The Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) curriculum — a new pathway offering an alternative globally recognized qualification
These additions give UISG families greater educational choice within a school already recognized among China’s Top 5. Whether your child thrives in a day-school setting, benefits from boarding life, or pursues the HKDSE pathway, UISG now offers unparalleled flexibility and choice.

Grade 5 Transition Day

As we approach the summer break, the final week of this academic year brings a special “Transition Day” for our Grade 5 students.

Grade 5 concludes the primary section, while Grade 6 marks the start of secondary school. To ensure a smooth and confident move, the school arranged for Grade 5 students to spend a full day in the secondary division, experiencing what a typical Grade 6 timetable looks like. Throughout the day, they attended lessons in Mathematics, Individuals and Societies, Science, Drama, Design, and more. From conducting hands-on science experiments and tackling collaborative maths problems, to performing in drama and prototyping ideas in design class, students engaged actively with both new subjects and new teaching styles. They also learned to navigate different classrooms and interact with secondary teachers, gaining a real sense of the pace and expectations ahead.

This Transition Day is one of our ongoing initiatives designed to support students through key academic transitions, easing any anxiety and building their confidence for the coming year. We believe that such immersive experiences help our young learners embrace change positively and step into secondary life with enthusiasm and readiness.
Seeing the World Differently : G1 and G11 Explore Eye Anatomy Together
This week, our Grade 1 students stepped into the science lab for a fascinating pig eye dissection activity, guided by their teachers and supported by Grade 11 peer mentors.

Before any hands-on work, the teacher gave a clear introduction to the main structures of the eye—such as the cornea, iris, and lens—and explained their functions. Then, our G11 students demonstrated the dissection techniques step by step, using simple and engaging language to help the younger learners observe and understand. The G1 students were full of curiosity, asking questions and, with assistance, trying out some basic dissecting moves.

This cross-grade collaboration reflects core IB principles: inquiry-based learning and service as action. Our younger students developed their curiosity and thinking skills through real-world exploration, while the older ones deepened their own understanding and practised leadership and communication by mentoring others. The activity also encouraged learner profile attributes such as “thinkers” and “risk-takers.” More than just a science lesson, this dissection experience strengthened our school community, showing that learning happens best when we learn with and from each other.

Silly Olympics : A Joyful Finale of Community and Cheer
As we reach the final week of the academic year, UISG bids farewell through the Silly Olympics—a celebration that captures the essence of our community. This isn’t just Sports Day; it’s an event that prioritizes joy, camaraderie, and the pleasure of being together before we part for summer.

Silly Olympics
The Silly Olympics reimagines what Sports Day can be. Our four houses—Dragons, Tigers, Pandas, and Warriors—compete in events that challenge physical ability, creativity, and teamwork. Mat surfing blends speed with balance, the plank race demands perfect synchronization, and the bottle flip challenge tests patience and precision. These games represent only a fraction of the day’s offerings.

No Silly Olympics is complete without our cherished traditions. The students versus teachers football and volleyball matches provide friendly competition across generations, reminding us that joy transcends age and role.

What makes UISG extraordinary is our belief that fun never ends here. From August through June, we weave joy and authentic connection into daily school life. The Silly Olympics is the perfect culmination of this philosophy—a final celebration before we disperse for rest and reflection.

To our enthusiastic students, dedicated teachers, and supportive staff—thank you for a year filled with growth, achievement, and genuine happiness. We wish you a summer of relaxation, adventure, and cherished moments. Recharge, create beautiful memories, and see you again next academic year.
G9 Design Students Explore Innovation
and Future Technology at
Shenzhen Science and Technology Museum
Our Grade 9 Design students recently travelled to the Shenzhen Science and Technology Museum for an exciting educational experience focused on science, innovation and emerging technologies. Throughout the visit, students explored a wide range of interactive exhibitions that demonstrated how scientific ideas are being applied to improve everyday life, industry, communication, and space exploration.

The hands-on displays encouraged students to investigate, experiment and ask questions as they encountered examples of artificial intelligence, robotics, engineering, and future technologies.

As part of the experience, students also participated in drone lessons, where they learned about the basic principles of flight, drone controls, safety procedures and the ways drones can be used in real-world contexts. Students then had the opportunity to apply their understanding through practical activities, developing their coordination, problem-solving skills and confidence with technology.
