Our students and teachers are now on to a well-deserved spring break to recharge their batteries for the last stretch of the school year. Please note that classes will resume on Tuesday, April 11, and boarders are invited to return from Monday, April 10.
接下来，同学们和老师们可以安心享受春假，为本学年的最后阶段充充电。请注意，课程将于4月11日星期二恢复，寄宿生请于4月10日星期一返校。

Teamwork is one of our K1&K2’s secret to becoming brave and being good communicators. This month, our little learners were tasked to lead the primary assembly and house games twice showcasing their learning. First, they showed and encouraged others how to be good members of the community. Then, on Wednesday, they collaborated with Year 2 to help them convey their message about how important teamwork is and how to create memorable learning experiences through the tech tool, Flip. They challenged the primary houses to work as a team to respond to the “Teamwork and Bravery Flip Hunt” that they themselves completed and modeled.

K1과 K2의 이야기
K1과 K2 어린이들은 팀워크를 통해 용감하게 행동하고 원활한 의사소통을 해왔습니다. 이번 달에 우리의 어린 학습자들은 두 번이나 본회의와 하우스 게임을 이끌며 배운 것을 보여주었습니다. 먼저, 학생들은 커뮤니티의 좋은 구성원이 되는 방법을 다른 사람들에게 소개하고 그들의 참여를 독려했습니다. 수요일에는 2학년 학생들과 협력하여 팀워크가 얼마나 중요한지, 그리고 Flip이라는 테크놀로지 툴을 통해 기억에 남는 학습 경험을 만드는 방법에 관해 이야기했습니다. 학생들은 초등학교 학생들이 팀으로 협력하여 직접 완성한 ‘팀워크와 용기를 위한 플립 헌트’에 참여했습니다.

In Unit 3, Year 6 students read literature about the Korean War, exploring the tragedy it left on the Korean people and the remedy it provided through literature. While reading Yoon Hong-gil’s ‘Field Flowers in Memory’ and Lee Hyun-joo’s ‘Cousin’, they discussed the conflicts in the novels, and while reading Ha Geun-chan’s ‘The Suffering of Two Generations’, they empathized with the characters’ pain and wrote letters of comfort. To conclude the unit, they practiced effectively expressing their opinions on the topic through three-minute speeches that conveyed their thoughts on the war.

Students in Years 8 and 9 studied representations of industrialization in literature. They explored how literature reflects the real world by exploring how the gap between the rich and poor, human marginalization, urbanization, and the resulting shifts in values are represented in several poems published in the 60s and 70s, as well as in the novels ‘Two Mules’, ‘A dwarf launches a little ball’, and the graphic novel ‘A Distant and Beautiful Place’. They also engaged in a mock court case to deepen their understanding of the conflict between workers and the company in ‘A dwarf launches a little ball’.

In Mr Justin’s DP Film Y11 class SL and HL students are very busy completing their IA Film Portfolio resolved three minute films. Students have taken on the role of the film director which has responsibility for visually interpreting the screenplay and defining the overall aesthetic style of the production using the film form elements: cinematography, mise-en-scene, editing, sound. The aesthetic style is determined by the genre of the screenplay – for example horror/action/romance/sci fi – each of which has its own set of codes and conventions. There is of course room for experimentation – but as the saying goes: you first have to know the rules before you break them!

Justin 선생님의 DP 필름 Y11 수업에서 SL과 HL 학생들은 3분짜리 영화로 구성된 IA 필름 포트폴리오를 완성하느라 매우 바쁩니다. 학생들은 각본을 시각적으로 해석하고 영화 형식 요소인 촬영, 미장센, 편집, 사운드를 사용하여 작품의 전반적인 미적 스타일을 정의하는 영화 감독 역할을 맡았습니다. 미적 스타일은 각본의 장르(예: 공포/액션/로맨스/공상과학)에 따라 결정되며, 각 장르에는 고유한 코드와 규칙이 있습니다. 물론 실험의 여지는 있지만, ‘규칙을 어기기 전에 먼저 규칙을 알아야 한다’는 속담이 있습니다!

This week DSE students reviewed their speaking practice exams and then practiced using another topic. Students first prepared to discuss a topic. Then as a group they discussed their views about organizing an event about types of food popular in Hong Kong. They talked about types of food, activities and events that could be organized and how to obtain the things needed for the activities and events. Students had a lot of fun practicing.
在这周，DSE的同学们复习了口语练习考试的内容，然后切换另一个话题再进行二次练习。同学们先设置了一个话题，然小组形式进行讨论。每个小组就“举办一场关于流行香港的食物类型的活动”发表了看法，在这个过程中，他们讨论了食物的种类、适合举办的活动和项目，以及筹备过程中如何获得所需物料。同学们在练习中获得了很多乐趣。
이번 주 DSE 학생들은 말하기 연습 시험을 복습한 후 다른 주제를 사용하여 연습했습니다. 학생들은 먼저 한 가지 주제에 대해 토론할 준비를 했습니다. 그런 다음 그룹으로 홍콩에서 인기있는 음식의 종류에 대한 행사를 기획하는 방법에 대해 의견을 나눴습니다. 학생들은 준비할 수 있는 음식의 종류, 활동 및 이벤트, 활동과 이벤트에 필요한 물건을 어떻게 마련할 수 있을지에 대해 이야기했습니다. 학생들은 매우 즐겁게 연습했습니다.
