Thursday saw the beginning of the Secondary Music Recital Series with three concerts during the school day.
At 9:00am three Year 12 pianists took to the stage of the Admin Hall to take their audience on an international musical journey from France to the U.S.A to Japan. Supported by an audience including their Group 6 Arts classmates, a very attentive Year 4 class, and staff, these performances may be added to their final DP Performing portfolios to be submitted to the IB next semester.
At 10:40am it was the turn of the three Year 11 pianists, who were performing in the first DP Recital of their two-year DP Music programme. Presenting five pieces of music between them, this concert covered almost 300 years of history, from classical Haydn to impressionist Debussy to contemporary Mrvica.
In the afternoon, the Secondary Music Room was transformed into a concert chamber to host the first of four recitals from the MYP Year 10 Music class as part of their Concert Time unit. Piano music by Ludwig van Beethoven and Madeleine Dring was performed along with violin music by Johannes Sebastian Bach, bringing an entertaining day of music making from our Secondary musicians to a close.
