Year 3 had a great time on their camp from March 30-31. We traveled by bus for 2 hours to our hotel for our one night stay in Zhuhai. We arrived at the hotel just before noon and after checking into our rooms, we enjoyed a buffet style lunch.

The students spent the first afternoon doing two activities that required team working skills and thinking skills. The first activity was a scavenger hunt in Huitong Ancient Village. Students were split into small groups and were tasked with finding specific items around the village. This challenge had the students exploring different features of the village and got them interacting with the local people to find what they were looking for.“ The amazing scavenger hunt had so many things to find.”Violet

Our second activity for the afternoon had students working in small teams to build sandcastles and other creative structures on Baishatan (White Sand Beach). We later had a BBQ and a little party before returning to the room for a good night’s sleep.“Our team worked well to build sand monsters and the highest mountain.”Ella

Our second day began with a buffet style breakfast before jumping into our two activities for the morning. One activity took us on hiking trail through the mangrove forests on Qi’Ao island where students learned about the local ecosystem. Our last activity was another teamwork task with students collaborating in pairs to construct a small insect house.“ On the walk through the mangrove forest we learnt about Huo Bao Ju.”Nirvi

After one last meal at the hotel, we got back on the buses for our return to UISG.
Year 3 learned a lot about the local environment and culture in Zhuhai, but they also learned a lot about each other on this memorable overnight adventure.“ I made two new friends on my trip.”Haruka
