A Truly International Education – The IB Continuum
UISG is Guangzhou’s only fully accredited International Baccalaureate (IB) World Continuum School. We have been offering IB Programmes since 2002 and are currently authorized to offer our students the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and IB Diploma Programme (DP) to students from Kindergarten through Year 12.
Throughout the IB continuum, students are taught how to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who develop the skills, knowledge, and intercultural understanding to help create a better world for the future. Mother Tongue Language Programmes
UISG offers Mother Tongue Language Programmes embedded within the school day. While English is our primary medium of instruction, UISG recognizes that Mother tongue is a fundamental aspect of identity, culture, and expression which should be valued and supported. Mother tongue acts as a catalyst for second language learning, where students become more successful in learning a second language.
The comprehensive Mother Tongue Language Programme at UISG enables a return to or entry into the Chinese, Korean, Japanese, German and French curricula for students from K2 to Year 6. In Years 7-12, the program expands to also include Spanish.
Our Mother Tongue Language Programme strengthens our students’ cultural background and makes them aware of their own identity in an international environment. We believe that the development of the mother tongue language is also crucial for cognitive development and long-term academic success. In 2021, 74% of our graduating class where able to graduate with an IB Bilingual Diploma; an achievement typically only met by less than 25% of IB students globally.

From your first visit to our campus as a prospective family, we strive to ensure all families feel welcome and supported as valuable members of our community. Once you’ve enrolled, we strengthen your connection to the community through the Utahloy Parent-Teacher Association (UPTA), celebratory events such as our annual International Festival of Light, and many opportunities for parents to participate in their child’s education. Parents are regularly engaged in opportunities to understand and improve our school programs so that together we are working to support the success of our whole community.

Strong Academic Performance
As an international school with diverse student body, our academic programs are designed with rigor to support the long-term success of students that have a variety of future education paths. While some students may stay with us long-term and graduate from our IB Diploma Programme, many students will only stay in Guangzhou for a few years before transitioning home or to a new country. We are mindful of these paths and our internationally oriented
We measure student performance using a variety of internal and external assessment tools and ensure parents are well informed on their child’s academic development. Like many international schools, we utilize the NWEA Measures of Academic Performance (MAP) tests to monitor student academic growth and tailor our teaching practices to the needs of each student.
UISG Graduates continually outperform world averages in IB Diploma results and are accepted to some of the most prestigious universities around the world. Our Secondary leadership team and dedicated College Counselor works closely with families to ensure that every student is on the path to success at the University that is the best fit for their future goals.
