Dear UISG Families,
September is upon us, and I look forward to another action-packed month of learning, parent engagement, and opportunities for our students to thrive! A big THANK YOU to all the parents that have joined our various on-campus sessions so far. This is something we will continue as we look for added ways to build stronger relationships with our families.
Of special note is the UPTA Welcome Picnic this coming Saturday, September 7th from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm. The UPTA, students, and our staff have been busy planning for a fantastic day filled with activities, food, music, art, and community spirit. This event is a wonderful opportunity for families to connect, meet new friends, and enjoy the beautiful outdoors together. I look forward to my first UPTA Welcome Picnic at UISG!
Additionally, I am excited to share that Extra Curricular Activities (ECAs) will start on Monday, and a Whole School Spirit Week that will run all week long! This is a great chance for our students to show their school pride and participate in fun themed days and activities.
Please join us Wednesday, September 4th, for the grade 11 parent session titled “Understanding the DP”. This is designed to inform and engage your understanding of the values and goals of the IB Diploma Programme, and how it prepares your child for success in the world and higher education.

Parent Workshops
Leaving this form open for one more week, I’ve only had 16 responses so far, we’d like to see A LOT more parents attending workshops this year…
As stated in our definition of High-Quality Learning and Teaching, here at UISG, we are firm believers in lifelong learning. Therefore, we invite and encourage parents to learn with and form our dedicated team of educators. We are starting to build our Parent Learning Workshop schedule for this coming year but would like more information from YOU so we can best suit your needs.
Please complete this Parent Learning Workshop form by Friday 6th September.
Parent Teacher Conference (PTC) Information
Information to be sent in a separate message. Sign-up for PTCs begins September 2nd.
Please note, we are offering an online option for PTCs but we highly encourage as many parents as possible to attend in person. Face-to-face meetings build deeper connections and are much more personable than online and we are looking to build more connections between home and school.

We are building our community spirit through our Wolf Spirit and our houses. Next week we will have joint dress up days for the Secondary school:

Dear Parents and Guardians,
Next week is School Spirit Week. Student House Captains and the Student Council have been working hard to plan for this event. They are asking for your help in encouraging your children to participate. Here are the themes for the week:
Awards
At the Secondary assembly this week, students received awards and recognition for the Harvard MUN event earlier this month, for last year’s Chinese/French art competition and for the National Science League competition. Most significantly, we recognised the EARCOS Global Citizenship Award. This prestigious award is given to a student who is “open-minded, aware and empathetic, concerned and caring for others, and is strongly committed to engagement and action to make our world a better place”. The award winner is Nayoung Oh. Congratulations.
Parent Workshops
We have the following parent workshops coming up in September. These will be the Admin Hall from 8:30 – 9:30am
- Sept 4 – Understanding the DP (Year 11)
- Sept 18 – eAssessment meeting + Personal Project (Y10 focus)
- Sept 23 – An overview of the final year in DP including College Counseling (Year 12)

奖项
在本周的中学大会上，学生们因本月早些时候在哈佛模联联合国活动、去年的中法艺术比赛和国家科学联盟比赛中获得了奖励。最重要的是，我们获得了EARCOS全球公民奖。这个享有盛誉的奖项授予那些“思想开放、意识清醒、有同理心、理解和关心他人，并坚定地致力于参与行动，使我们的世界变得更美好”的学生。获奖者是Nayoung Oh。祝贺你。
