FOR NEW & RETURNING WOLF FAMILIES
WELCOME PICNIC 2026
WELCOME TO UISG!

WOLFPACK
Last Friday, the September sun gave us a perfect afternoon – warm but not too hot, with a gentle breeze across the campus. That was the day of our annual UISG Welcome Picnic, and families returning and new came together to enjoy it.

The afternoon kicked off with a warm welcome from Chair of the UEF Board Ms. Dorothy Wong and Head of School Dr. Dan Mullen, followed by an introduction of our new teachers, who received a round of applause from the crowd. New families arrived with curiosity, returning ones with the easy familiarity of coming home. The kids barely touched the ground before they were off – some darting straight to the game booths, others already in the middle of a full-on game of water tag at the splash zone.

This year’s stage belonged entirely to the students. Guitars, drums, vocals, dance routines – everything was rehearsed and performed by the kids themselves. The applause never stopped, and parents’ phone galleries grew a little fuller with videos they’ll surely watch more than once.

STUDENT’S STAGE

Scattered across the lawn were booths run by students – all of them. The claw machine drew long queues, with every grab sending waves of cheers and groans through the crowd. The fishing game tested patience, while nearby food stalls filled the air with the smell of freshly baked cookies and cakes – all homemade by our young chefs, and delicious enough to rival any bakery. And the new water tag area? Easily the most popular spot of the day. Splashes flew in every direction, and for a while, there were no adults or children – just a bunch of happy people playing together.

WELCOME PICNIC ACTIVITIES 2026
At the Primary Student Council booth, the atmosphere was a little more mindful. Children sat together for a collaborative art project, brushes in hand, painting white shoes and turning plain canvas sneakers into little works of art.

This year, we also had a special guest – a clown who twisted balloons into dogs, swords, and flowers in just seconds. The children lined up patiently, and when their turn came, they clutched their balloon treasures like they’d just won a prize. Not far away, the photo booth attracted a steady crowd. With props like hand-held signs and wolf ears, families squeezed together, clicked the shutter, and captured their happiest moments of the afternoon.

The photo competition introduced new categories this year: “Best Group Photo” captured families laughing together; “Best Funny Face” collected all the silliest expressions; “Best Food Shot” – where snacks stole the show; “Best Dressed” celebrated the most creative accessories; and “Best Detail” found beauty in the little things – a small hand reaching for a balloon, or a child’s gaze fixed on the stage.

As the sun began to lower, families slowly packed up their picnic mats and called it a day. The water guns were put away, the booths closed down, but the footprints on the grass and the echoes of laughter still hung in the air – a quiet reminder of just how good this afternoon had been.
Thank you to every family who came. You made this the best possible start to autumn.
