This video shows our Primary Mother Tongue Program in different lessons. The Mother Tongue Program is unique at UISG, and it’s a significant part of our community. Mother Tongue lessons are part of the school curriculum from K2 to Y6, and UISG is committed to provide our Chinese, Korean, Japanese, German and French speaking students with the opportunity to develop the necessary language skills to become proficient mother tongue communicators. Our Mother Tongue classes are taught by qualified teachers who ensure deeper student understanding of language foundations and text types in language lessons. Our teachers are:
- Mr. Lars Jirmann, German teacher and Primary Head of Languages
- Ms. Naoko Yamaguchi, Japanese teacher
- Ms. Agatha Kim and Ms. Kathy Kim, Korean teachers
- Ms. Anne-Catherine, French teacher
- Ms. Angel Liu, Ms. Holly Huang, Ms. Margie Wu, Ms. Jane Wen and Ms. Michelle Liang, Chinese teachers
We encourage not just language learning but also the exploration of history, culture and literature of the respective mother tongues.
