In Week 3 of International Summer School, the students have gone onto the theme of Explore the Community. Early Years children have had discussions about our own community and those who help run it, like librarians, police officers, and firefighters. They have also put on the uniforms of these community helpers and found out what social responsibilities they have.
The Primary students were asked to create their own community to help those in need. Thinking about ways to help the community and the different people in the community who might need assistance encourages them to understand the importance of teamwork and participation. In addition, Y3-Y6 students had a Cyanotype workshop with a German artist Wil Kopernikus. They have created some amazing artworks using materials found in the UISG community.
While the Early Years students visited the Guangzhou Children Activities’ Centre, the Primary students gained new perspectives of Guangzhou city in the Guangzhou Archaeology Museum.
