Dean Croy
UISG Head of School
Dean Croy joins Utahloy International School Guangzhou as its new Head of School. He returns to Asia after serving as Head of School at an IB World School in Vancouver, Canada. During the past 25 years, Dean has held leadership roles at independent schools in Canada and Hong Kong, and has served on committees of provincial and national independent school organizations in Canada, plus the board of the Independent Schools Association in British Columbia.

Betsy Verb
Director of Innovation & ICT
Betsy joined the UISG community at the beginning of the 2021-22 academic year. She has 24 years of experience teaching technology and design thinking, focusing on digital and product design from (STEAM-based) Pre-K to the college level. In addition to her classroom experience, she served in various leadership positions globally for the past 10 years.
Betsy has a Masters of Science in Educational Media Design and Technology and Ed.S. Degree in Curriculum Design & Instruction with an emphasis in Distance Learning. Currently, she is finishing her Ed.D. degree in International Education, focusing on the Cultural Influences in Design Thinking. Betsy has designed and implemented numerous Innovation & Design Labs worldwide, focusing on maximizing the use of space. Her philosophy on education is to create spaces and provide trainings where students can learn innovative methods of design and technology through experiential learning so they can increase their knowledge, develop skills and learn various ways to contribute to society.

Dr. Aleksa Moss
UISG Head of Early Year
Aleksa joined the UISG community at the beginning of the 2020-21 academic year. She has been an Early Years teacher for 15 years, and for 10 of those, she has held various positions of leadership. Before UISG, Aleksa has taught students from birth through to Year 4 in the United States, Macau SAR China, Indonesia, and in mainland China (Shanghai and Guangzhou), with 7 years’ experience teaching and leading within the Primary Years Programme.
Aleksa has a Bachelor of Arts: Early Childhood Education with Illinois and Ontario Teacher Qualifications, a Masters in Education: Curriculum and Instruction, an Ontario Principal’s Qualification, and Doctorate in Education: International Educational Leadership. Aleksa’s philosophy on education is to create an engaging and creative environment in which children share ownership of the space and inquire into learning together with peers and teachers.

Michelle Jones
UISG Head of Primary
Michelle arrived at UISG at the beginning of the 2018 academic year. Michelle has been a Primary teacher for 18 years, and for 13 of those, she has held various positions of leadership. She has taught students from Kindergarten through to Year 6 in the UK, Colombia, Cambodia and now China. Michelle has 14 years’ experience teaching and leading within the Primary Years Programme. She has a Bachelor of Arts: English with Qualified Teacher Status, and a Masters in Education: Leadership and Management. Michelle’s philosophy on education is to create a safe environment in which students feel empowered to inquire and share their thinking amongst open-minded peers.

Fritha Jameson
UISG Head of Secondary
Fritha joined UISG from the start of the 2022 academic year. She has been in international education since leaving New Zealand in 2003, teaching music from Nursery through to High School levels, and helping to establish world-class music programmes in both Shanghai and Shenzhen, in addition to being a co-founder of iMADSZ, Shenzhen. Fritha has a First-Class Honours Degree in music composition (NZ), Graduate Diploma in Teaching (NZ) in Secondary Music and Performing Arts, and a Masters in International Education Administration (USA). A committed IB practitioner since 2005, Fritha brings a wealth of experience leading academically rigorous and balanced programmes that inspire courage, diversity, creativity and joy for life-long learning in all disciplines.
